9 Things In Life You Should Realize Now, Before its too late!
The inspiration of this post came from another post that I saw on Instagram. It was the post created by Gary Vee where he in his own style stated that 'Regret is Poison'.
Now, that got me thinking, I asked myself what are things that I regret and if these regrets are big enough to weigh you down. The more I introspect on these things the more I realized that yes, these things do have an impact in the long run.
To understand this topic more, I dig in deep and studied few more articles to understand what are the most common things that people regret about in their old age.
So for this content, I am clubbing my thoughts with the statistics I have collected from various other sources on this topic. Hope they will add some value to your perspective.
- Financial Investment, the younger you start the better you shape: I started investing in different bonds and funds only a year ago and I already feel terrible for not starting it early. Compounding is powerful, trust me its a simple math. In fact even with a mediocre salary, if you invest miserly from the age of 18 you will be a Millionaire by age 55. So, you can understand how powerful this medium is for financial independence, especially in old age.
Pro Tip On how to Invest: Start with a small amount and make sure you put that amount aside at the start of the month.
2. Never Take Friends and Family for Granted: No matter how close you are to someone, you need to communicate with them on regular basis to keep the bonding strong. A happy, strong family is the key to happiness. In fact there was a massive study done some years ago that stated that the single most important thing for happiness is 'Family'. Make sure you invest your time with your loved ones, they are your real strength.
I don't have a pro tip on this as I am working on it myself.
3. Never be afraid to Ask for help: You never know but a 'help' can be just a phone call away. We let go so many opportunities thinking that the other person will be too busy to reply or talk. However, you never know what destiny has in store for you if you don't try your luck and luck always get brighter if you are persistent with your effort. So don't assume things in your head. Just try them out in real and see how they go.
4 Health Is Wealth: That big, fat, cheesy burger does taste delicious for few minutes but its a disaster in a long run. Occasional indulgence on our craving is fine but making it a part of our lifestyle is dangerous. No matter how busy we are, we can always spare out 30 minutes for exercise. It is imperative that we consistently take care of our bodies in our 20's and 30's so that they can take care of us in our 70's and 80's.
Quote To Remember For Health: Your health plays a crucial role in defining your way in life.
5. We judge ourselves more than others: We consistently worry about other people opinion only to realize in old age that they didn't matter. We need to add more flexibility to our thoughts. We need to develop more understanding on our own actions. Yes, we will fail and stumble on our path but that is what learning is all about. The worst thing we can do to ourselves is to change a part of us, worrying what others will think. If you want to change, make sure you change for your own betterment, based on your own analysis.
Pro Tip To Practice this advice: Stop passing judgement on other people, opinions and lives.
6. Relationships cannot survive the lack of communication: People need to talk to gel together. Silence cannot take you far. Most people in their 70's regret missing out on things they could have said to save their relationships. When it comes to working on relationships, you must put aside your ego and keep your communications channels open. A lot of complications occur when we talk to ourselves rather taking to a person in question.
D.I.Y Tip: If there is something that is bothering you about anyone, put it out, simply say it in a polite manner, trust me you will be able to breathe easy.
7. Kids do listen to their parents even when they are silent: This tip is for the parents. Parenting is a tough job, because to make your kids learn, you need to put your words in action. Make sure you create a happy environment for them at home.Never argue or fight in front of your kids. Kids are always learning from us, so make sure we present the exact same behavior, which we want to see in them.
8. Hard work trumps Destiny: No matter how hard your luck or circumstance it. If you work consistently hard, trust me, things will change for better. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel for a person who is willing to walk that extra mile. We all have 24 hours in a day, however, how you spend those hours will define where you will reach at the end of your life. Even if you are in your 60's make the rest of your life, the best of your life
Pro Tip: Start your day well, set up a ritual and practice it. First hour of your day sets you up for the remaining 23 hours. So, don't waste it on useless distractions.
9. Its absolutely fine to Dance in the rain: Come on! We don't how much time we all have left in our clocks. So never let that kid in you go old. Never miss out on an opportunity to pamper yourself. We don't need big fancy things to be happy, trust me we don't, we just need to analyse things differently. So read more, speak less, listen actively and always wish well for yourself and others.
