9 Reminders For Tough Times
I've been saving this one but tonight seemed like a good night for some healing and self-love : )
I had an incredible long weekend and got to spend a lot of time with family which filled my heart with so much love and joy! But I also encountered some things that are weighing on me emotionally.
I found myself spiraling on the car ride home yesterday, caught up in my own thoughts and feelings. Finally, I caught on to what I was doing and reversed my negative thoughts so I could pick myself back up.
More time with family today helped so I'm already feeling better about it but that doesn't change the fact that I've got a long road ahead of me.
Anyway, theres some good ones here:
1) Sometimes good things fall apart so that better things can come together.
I don't know the outcome. What if this leads to something better? It seems like a hard pill to swallow now; a lot of hard work ahead of me. But I can plainly see that either direction has a net positive outcome. I'm going to have to push forward. It's not going to be easy, but this is what I've been training for!
2) Everything is temporary.
The outcomes will last forever, but not the pain. It's good to mourn and grieve but not to get swallowed by it all. I am not to blame. I did nothing wrong. But it affects me either way and I need to deal with all of it.
3) You are stronger than you think.
This one I know to be true. But the cool part is that the better I get at thinking, the stronger I become : )
4) Practice gratitude; enjoy and appreciate what is in your life instead of focusing on whats going wrong.
This one is so true. I've practiced gratitude for a while and it's always helped. But I can feel myself getting significantly better at the practice itself and the outcomes it has on my life.
5) Remember that you are needed in the world, even when you doubt it.
This one hits home - both as a reminder of my own self-worth and as a call to action to step up and serve.

6) Comparison is the thief of joy, focus on your own journey and accomplishments.
Perspective is everything. I am not responsible, no matter what happens, I am not to blame. But I will step up and do whatever it takes! There's no sense worrying about what could happen or what will happen. I need only to focus on what I want to happen and how it will make me feel. Whatever happens, that's okay.
7) Every battle shapes the person you are destined to become.
These battles will not only forge me into the person I desire to be, but they will shape my entire life. The universe is testing me. I will stand tall and fight with honor.
8) Don't forget to take care of yourself; physical and emotional well-being matter.
I've always put myself first. I'm a firm believer in airplane logic - take care of yourself so you can take care of others. That's how I plan to live to 100. I'm pretty good at this one.
9) Set small goals and celebrate every achievement, even if it seems insignificant.
If I'm being honest, I could be better about celebrating my achievements. I could use a pat on the back every now and again. Especially from someone I respect so damn much : )
