9 Reasons Why You Aren't Able to Grow Your Consulting & Speaking Business to 7 Figures Per Year

Making money is not difficult if you understand how. Much of the time it is your belief system, not the mechanics that makes money. For many of you reading this article, this isn't relative because you are already making $50,000 or more per month but if you are making under $50,000 per month, keep reading, this is just for you.

Freedom and Impact

Many people have financial freedom and/or freedom of time but they aren't making any real positive impact on the world. Then there are those that really impact the world but have no freedom at all. When you have both freedoms and provide a positive impact, you have the recipe for full personal power. Let's examine what it takes to reach this level of freedom.

Reason #1: Fear

To generate over a million dollars per year, you have to delegate by outsourcing. This means you have to let go of fear. Are you the kind of person that micromanages every aspect of your business? This could be throttling your income.  At this very moment, are you juggling everything from marketing, sales, and operations, to delivery, and support while never delegating anything? To help streamline growth, instead of spending every second micromanaging, your time can be better spent finding the perfect partners to delegate work to and know that you will get quality in return. If you think you are the best at doing it all, you are already hindering your potential income.

Reason #2: Leverage

To be candid, it's dumb not to use the leverage of delegation. By delegating you gain back the time you need to do things that unleash your genius (Your Zone of Genius) because this is the key to scaling your business.

Examine your leverage; does it require you personally to complete the sale or service delivery? If the answer is yes, can you leverage your time by servicing several clients at once. IE: doing a seminar or webinar.

Reason #3: You Don't Have a Real Business Model but Rather a Product

When working with clients, we have discovered that most people earning $0-$150,000 per year, didn't have a business model. Most just have a product without any processes in place. If you're earning between $0 and $150,000 per year, it's likely your real problem is a broken business model or lack thereof.  Some reading this may be saying “I don't want to tinker with what is working.” If you're not making the income you truly desire then it is not working.

Reason #4: Your Why is Not Strong Enough

What is your WHY behind your business?

For example, my purpose is to dramatically increase the life (both financially and personally) of each person I work with through my mentoring and consulting. As a result, we too have had to adjust our business model through the years to better leverage our “Zone of Genius”.

Let me tell you... once you personally start making a consistent $25,000 per month, for the most part, life becomes good.  But if you don't have a powerful WHY, you may become content with the $25,000 per month and stop growing.

So does your "WHY" wake you up excited in the morning? If not, maybe it's time to buckle down and really evaluate what gets you excited in life.

Reason #5: You Are Subconsciously Allergic to Money

Most people I meet don't have much of anything and live month to month. I believe the reason is because we grow up being told money is the root of all evil, only the lucky have money, or money is dirty. Society ingrains it in our subconscious.

Most of society including many of the readers of this article don't think they deserve money and the freedom that money brings and if you're subconsciously allergic to money, you will have fear become the true version of YOU. If you can drop all the fear and discard what others say about you, YOU will take control and finally see success more clearly than ever before. You have to re-frame what freedom really is.

Reason #6: You're Only Using Your Existing Network

Having a personal network is a great start but you need a constant stream of qualified leads in order to produce consistent sales. If you don't have a process in place to generate a stream of new leads, you are on the road to unpredictable growth. It all comes down to numbers, the more qualified leads you can put in front of your product or service, the more sales you will get. Plain and simple.

Reason #7: You're Trying to Follow Someone Else's Blueprint

If you're trying to follow someone else's blueprint...you're on the wrong track. Every business is unique and therefore, there is no one-size-fits-all for growing a business. The best way to create your own blueprint is to find mentors and study those in your field and start making notes. Find out what works for them and test it out and from there, you can create the perfect blueprint for your business through the results. Not everything will work for you but there will be no way to know until you study and test results to determine your secret sauce.

Reason #8: You Think The Results are More Important Than the Process

The process and the results are two different sets of procedures and in order to have your desired results (which needs to be at least $50,000 per month financially), you have to become comfortable with the process. This means you need to learn to love the process of implementation, testing and analyzing data. Your number one priority should be finding what works and continue to improve upon it until you have processes that are guaranteed results every time.

Reason #9: You're Comfortable So You Stop Growing

On a daily basis I speak to people that are not reaching their revenue targets but do nothing about it.

Let me ask you a question:

When you get to the end of your life...are you going to regret that you didn't live life to its fullest because your were comfortable?

So, if you are one of the strong that doesn’t settle on merely being comfortable, these are the steps you need to remember:

1. Have a qualified audience

2. Have the right offer

3. Have the right business model

4. Use leverage

5. Automate your lead generation

6. Always test & use your data

7. Get ready for real freedom and impact
