9 Life Lessons- Tyler Durden

Today I want to drop 9 Life Lessons I have learned from Tyler Durden that made me question the “status quo” & go against the grain in my life…..

There aren’t many films that come along with so many hidden gems, that make you think about your life, how you have lived it so far, how you are currently living it, and how you truly want to live it.

It might seem crazy but sometimes things as simple as a song, a book, a comment, a sign, a movie in this case can make such a huge impact on how you see things and take your life in a direction that you never really thought possible. 

Read these 9 life lessons with an open mind and see if it doesn’t spark a change in your life for the better like it did mine so many years ago….

Lesson #1 – “Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.” 

 

Lesson #2 – “The things you own end up owning you.”

 

Lesson #3 – “It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.”

 

Lesson #4 – “Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken.”

 

Lesson #5 – “This is your life and it’s ending one minute at a time.”

 

Lesson #6 – “We buy things we don’t need, with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.”

 

Less #7 – “How much can you know about yourself if you’ve never been in a fight?”

 

Lesson #8 –”People do it everyday. They talk to themselves as they’d like to be. They don’t have the courage you have to just run with it.”


Lesson # – 9- “You are not your job. You’re not how much money you have in the bank. You’re not the car you drive. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You’re not your fucking khakis. You’re the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.”

 

Now the way I see it you have three options….

1-You can take these 9 quotes brush them off as movie lines and go about your work day pretending to work…..

2-Or you can be an uptight person, who gets offended easy, pretend your life is perfect already and not think twice about them.

3-Or you can really take a closer look at them, maybe they all resonate with you maybe only some of them do. But take a minute see how some of these simple yet powerful phrases might apply to you, the life you are currently living & also the life you are striving to have.

Are your goals REALLY your goals?

Are your dreams REALLY your dreams?

Are you writing your own life story or just following the handbook someone else wrote for your life?

Are you obsessed with what everyone thinks about you?

Or are you living life on your own terms, by your own rules doing what you want, when you want, and doing it how you want to do it?

When you wake up and look in the mirror in the morning are you excited about the day?

Are you chasing your passion? Or are you just going through the motions?

Are you excited to dominate each Monday? Or are you just wishing for the weekend to get here?

My advice look over these 9 life lessons again, make a quick list of your goals, your hopes, your dreams and then ask yourself the question…..

What is really holding me back? What am I really waiting for?

The sooner you stop worrying about what other people think, The sooner you stop worrying about making a mistake, The sooner you stop waiting for the “perfect time” to start…..

The sooner all your REAL hopes & dreams will come true.

Don’t waste another minute of this life, get up go out and get after it!
