#9 Avoiding Ancient Inequality Errors in Tech: Responsible AI and AI2030 Vision

In the grand narrative of technological evolution, the emergence of Artificial Intelligence is a defining chapter, mirroring the monumental shifts of the Industrial Revolution and the dawn of the digital era. Yet, as we leaf through the pages of history, we observe a recurring motif: the unequal distribution of technological advancements across nations, races, genders, and social classes.

Reflecting on the past, the Industrial Revolution opened as a tale of two worlds: one where industrialized nations flourished, and another where less developed regions worsened. A similar narrative unfolded with the advent of the digital age, characterized by the 'digital divide' – a chasm separating the technologically privileged from the underserved. This divide transcended geographical boundaries, manifesting within nations along the lines of race, gender, and economic stature.

The AI revolution brings transformative possibilities in healthcare, education, and beyond. Yet, this potential comes with a challenge: ensuring AI doesn't deepen existing inequalities. It's crucial to make AI accessible to everyone, fostering an environment of innovation and equitable power distribution. This shift towards inclusivity is vital to ensure AI's benefits reach all corners of society, marking a turn from elitist to egalitarian technology. Let's not repeat the same mistakes that we did, and to achieve this cause, we need to be part of this AI journey individually and collectively. That's why I joined AI 2030 as a member of the Board of Advisors.

AI 2030 is an initiative aimed at harnessing the transformative power of AI to benefit humanity while minimizing its potential negative impact. The initiative is driven by the belief that individuals from all backgrounds and with diverse perspectives can drive positive change and ensure AI2030's positive impact on society. The initiative addresses various aspects of responsible AI, including governance, regulations,industry-specific frameworks, principles, best practices, and cutting-edge tools and solutions. This organization has fellows consisting of a diverse group of prominent experts leading the way in responsible AI development. Let's check a couple of them.
