The 8th M in Marketing
Marketing has 7 Ms. If you've studied before, learning the discipline, you'd know. This is basically your conventional first semester stuff.
And, the 7Ms in marketing are old. It's from a time when we didn't have any television, internet, and social media platforms.
Yet, there was print. There was the newspaper. All thanks to the Gutenberg Bible.
Yes, this short article is meant for those who want the 'know-how' and perhaps not for those who know how - but it is merely a two minute read.
In this regard, the mythical seven are as follows:
Market:
Knowing your market is like having a cheat sheet for success. Research on who your audience is and what makes them tick. Judge them by age, income, interests, gender, religion, caste, creed, and beyond. Define your market. Just like the piss of a dog, mark it for yourself. It is your territory.
Mission:
Think of your mission as your marketing compass. Set goals that are SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Don’t just say “We want more eyes on us”. Answer "Why?". It’s like having a GPS that keeps you from taking sudden detours and ensures you’re swimming in the same direction.
Message:
Your message is at the heart of your marketing. Make it punchy and to the point. Maer it the indelible ink that show you obliged. Consistency across all platforms makes your message stick. Say the same lie a million times. Say it a billion times. It’s like finding that perfect tagline that everyone remembers. Just do it.

Media:
The right media sets the perfect stage to showcase performance. Focus on where your audience hangs out - be it Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter. Tailor all your content to fit the vibe and invest in what gives you the best bang for your buck. Besides, don't fret to diversify when your reach is kinda stagnating.
Measurement:
Measurement is your marketing report card. If you don’t check your grades, how do you know if you’re passing? Track key performance indicators like conversion rates and click-through rates. It’s like adjusting your sails based on the wind - you steer towards better results with each change.
Money:
Budgeting in marketing is like managing your pocket money with the aim buying a PS5. Track your spending closely and reallocate resources to what’s working best. Wise budget management means getting the most out of every penny. It ensures your marketing efforts don’t just spend but invest wisely. So, plan your budget to cover all bases without going overboard.
Management:
Effective management is the engine that drives your marketing machine. Keep an eye on progress and tackle issues before they snowball. Encourage team collaboration so every part of your strategy meshes perfectly. Good management ensures everything runs smoothly like a well-oiled machine. This ensures that your efforts are both efficient and effective.
Now that all is done. What is the 8th?
