Good Evening,
It is an honor to speak before this amazing 8th-grade class. I want to start by thanking the teachers, principal, and everyone who has played a role in guiding you to this milestone. Today, we celebrate all your accomplishments and the obstacles you have overcome. Think about those hard tests, the pink slips, disagreements with your friends, and all the other challenges life threw your way. Despite it all, you made it to graduation. Many did not get the chance to sit in the seats you are in today. You made it, and we must thank God for that.
If you know me, you know I love many genres of music, especially hip hop. When God gave me the title for this talk, "God's Plan," I thought about Drake's song by the same name and lyrics from DJ Khaled: "they didn't believe in us, but God did." I am grateful God has always celebrated us, even when we did not celebrate ourselves.
We also have to thank God for the village that supported us to live out the plan God has for our lives. You are overcomers with great potential. Before you were in your parents' womb, God had a plan for your life. He believed in this plan so much that He sent His son to die so you could have life abundantly. As you move on to high school and beyond, remember God's plan for you. He said in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
We can praise God before we get the plan because the truth is we win. All things are going to work for our good if we do not give up. I need this word to settle within your bones because life will happen. Life will make you doubt what God said about you. A delay to your plan does not mean it will be denied. God will give it to you at the appointed time. You have to be ready for the plan. The worst thing is to get it and lose it.
Time goes fast, but His plan remains steadfast.

I have three points I need you to remember as you are in the process of life. This message is not just for our scholars; it is not too late to become who God created you to be.
As you step into the next chapter of your life, carry this promise with you. Know that you are part of a greater plan, a divine design that is uniquely yours. Congratulations, Class of 2024! The world awaits your greatness!
