Honestly, when the evidence keeps accumulating, politeness be dammed. Every single one of us needs to make, specify and build regeneratively, because our collective tomorrow is no longer in a safe zone. If you know about planetary boundaries and the latest scientific update, or if you don’t, yesterday’s article in Nature ?is a must read. Their article, ‘Safe and Just Earth System Boundaries’ exemplifies what 540 WORLD and partners presented at Futurebuild in March, take a look at the sessions here . Each of our specialist panel speakers, from chemist to consultants on 6 stages, highlighted the vital need to first do no harm to our planet. Yes, it’s possible!?
Circular construction is a degenerative design option, unless we specify harm-free materials first
As regenerative design consultants, we have concluded that the links critically missing from many conversations around circular design and building ‘sustainably’, is full stakeholder integration and secondly, and vitally, what needs to be enabled before circularity, namely the material health of product ingredients and their manufacturing processes. To build regeneratively, i.e. with safe/non-toxic materials, we need an evidence-based, verified framework for safe, circular, and socially responsible products and processes such as Cradle to Cradle Certified?. Leaving the industry to self-regulate has proven not to work from a perspective of keeping our planet thriving.
Our shared understanding - a circular economy in the built environment
Our Shared Understanding is a summary of core concepts that inform the transition to a circular economy. By holding these principles in common, we can align policies, strategies and initiatives, enabling the built environment industries to work together towards a more sustainable future.
I'm taking a stand for regenerative Cradle to Cradle??design
To ensure safe, circular material choices and processes, for a healthy, waste-free, unpolluted planet, to enable a thriving future for all communities, all creatures, and all time. Yes, it is possible to create a circular world of good!?
