1) Basquiat & Warhol's Hidden Gem: $18M Auction Sensation at Sotheby's

A collaboration between Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol, unseen since 2010, will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in May. Its estimated value has surged to $18 million, up from $2.6 million in 2010.

2) Generous Donation Boosts Norton Museum's Collection

Jonathan Frost generously donated almost 700 prints, spanning a millennium, to the Norton Museum of Art in Florida. This significant contribution will boost the museum's print collection by nearly 40%.

3) David Shrigley's 'Shut Up and Eat Your Fries'

David Shrigley has unveiled a new print titled Shut Up and Eat Your Fries, 2024, a 21-color screenprint in a signed and numbered edition of 125.

4) Phillips Set to Wow with Pellizzi Collection Masterpieces

Phillips will feature three Basquiat paintings from Francesco Pellizzi's collection in its upcoming spring sales in New York and Hong Kong, sourced from Basquiat's early dealer, Annina Nosei. Leading the New York sale on May 14th is the monumental 1982 canvas Untitled (ELMAR), estimated $40-60 million and Untitled (Portrait of a Famous Ballplayer)from 1981, estimated $6.5-8.5 million. On May 31, in Hong Kong, Phillips will auction Native Carrying Some Guns, Bibles, Amorites on Safari (1982) estimated $12-18 million.

5) Hirst's Deathly Delights: Iconic Works Unveiled at Museo Jumex Exhibition

Damien Hirst's new catalogue showcases his iconic works on death, coinciding with his exhibition at Museo Jumex in Mexico City. The exhibition curated by Hirst and Ann Gallagher features over 50 works from 1986 to 2019, marking the museum's 10th anniversary. The catalogue will be available for purchase from June 11th, 2024.


Art Basel Hong Kong

The 11th Art Basel Hong Kong featured 242 galleries. Over 75,000 visitors attended from March 28 to 30 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Notable representatives from 100 museums and foundations, along with art patrons from 72 countries, were present.
