89 Books in 2021

2021 was a big year for the LaFaves. We started the year in Denver with no plans to move and ended the year in our new house in Omaha, with two new jobs, celebrating the holidays with our families.

The poet Mary Oliver poses this question in her poem “The Summer Day” – “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” I had planned to mostly stay home and read, but life had other plans.

In the middle of all of the madness, I managed to enjoy 89 books. My favorites from the year are marked with asterisks.

I have a feeling that some of my 2022 reads will include titles like, “Goodnight Moon” and “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” If you have suggestions of the baby board book variety, I’d love to hear them.

Very cool, Emily! This reminded me about that book I recommended to you a few weeks ago. I looked it up for you: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32487617-beneath-a-scarlet-sky. I think the most interesting part is that it was based on a true story.

Congratulations Emily. You had me at "expecting" - immediately pulled me in to your unfolding story. :) Wow.... 89 books is pretty incredible too!

Congratulations! And as always, I'm impressed at what voracious reader you are. I thought my 17 books this year was pretty good but now I'm just embarrassed. Best of luck with these big changes - Emily Oster is excellent prep reading!
