84 Kilometers

It’s been almost 13 years now ever since I embarked upon my fitness journey. At the beginning, my goal was to manage weight and nothing else. In less than 10 months I was able to achieve my goal just by regularly running no matter where I was. Since then, strength training, fitness, and healthy lifestyle are integral to my life.
With regards to physical fitness in last 13 years, I have witnessed many milestones. Perhaps, that is one of the reasons why I am taking this initiative to write this article.
This article is an attempt to inspire and persuade you to drive and bring out your physical best. So, let’s begin!
?
Imagine, if you were to travel 84 kilometers on an unknown terrain with your car, how would you like your car to be? Will you want your car to deliver its best? I am sure your answer is yes!
No driver in this world would want to see his or her car breakdown before reaching the destination. Hope you concur?
?
Being behind the steering wheel, you would always want to drive as long as you can. Why just 84 kilometers? In order to do so you will have to make sure that your car is at its best. And in order to keep your car in its best you need to do certain things e.g., timely servicing, quality fuel, avoiding bad roads, avoiding accidents and all possible things that falls inside your circle of influence.
?
By now, you must have deduced that, the car is a metaphor here.
If you want to live for 84 years, how would you want your life to be?
I am sure the simplest answer to this question would be “Healthyâ€, correct? ?
In order to be healthy, my go to way is to lift weights at least 3-4 hours a week. That is ~2% of 168 hours available in a week. Yes, that is right. It’s just 2%. Can you believe that? ?Is time still an issue?

Now, if for some reason, weights don’t resonate with you, and you still want to be healthy. Then what? Well, I guess you already know that the list is long. Running, yoga, aerobics, cycling, dance, etc. However, nothing from that list looks doable for you. Then what?
Let me share with you the three things which can help you navigate 84 kilometers without any major breakdown. Fingers crossed. They are as follows.
?
1.???? Walk on grass: In my opinion, shoes are the worst inventions of all time. Let me give you reasons to believe why I said so. When you are walking bare foot on earth something miraculous happens within your body. Simply put, the free radicals in our body get neutralized by the Earth and in a way our body rejuvenates. Shoes have actually disconnected us from the Earth. We are a piece of earth, aren’t we? Our body is 12% Earth. You get the point, right? Just re-establish your connection with the Earth. Anything more than 0 sec is good. Just start!
2.???? Bis in die: Eat only 2 times a day (B.I.D.). Two big meals of your choice and absolutely nothing in between. I know it sounds crazy, but this is proven. Empty stomach and hunger are two different things. Meaning, our body is accustomed to remaining hungry for long hours. Imagine yourself as a hunter. You are not sure when will you get to eat next. Next meal was always a question mark. In fact, research shows that fasting is a powerful way to stay healthy. By the way every time you eat, especially anything with carbs, there is an insulin spike in your bloodstream. I don’t want to sound like an endocrinologist here. The point is high insulin is not a great thing. Your tongue is the targeted muscle here, work on it.
?
3.???? Breathe in, breathe out: ?Everyone is talking about the heart, which is a good thing. But, what about your lungs? Research says that individuals with healthy lungs live longer. Simply put, do basic breathing exercises daily. You can do it in your bedroom. 10 mins daily is achievable. Right?
?
We live in a VUCA world. To navigate the difficult terrains of this world, its pivotal to keep your car up and running. Choice is yours. You want refueling or a mechanic?
