According to recent research, 83% of Indian students believe that gaining a degree from an international institution will improve their employment prospects and provide them with an advantage over other candidates.
Tuesday saw the release of the leap-Ipsos Strategic Study Abroad Outlook Survey, which found that 57% of Indian middle-class households with incomes between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 10 lakh are considering paying for international education.
This survey is an important look at how India's most populous group is becoming more interested in international studies.
In a statement, Leap co-founder Vaibhav Singh predicted that by 2025, more than two million Indian students would travel abroad to pursue higher education, spending more than $100 million in the process. According to the report, 42% of Indian students are interested in studying abroad in countries where English is not the official language.
Learners are becoming increasingly comfortable with the idea of taking out loans to pay for higher education. 62% of Indians surveyed use college loans, while only 53% utilize scholarship opportunities.
35% of those surveyed were aged between 25 and 34, and the remaining 63% were between the ages of 18 and 24.
