Hi Reader!
First, thanks for all of the well wishes and good thoughts about my skeeter encounter. Save one spot on my forehead, I'm almost fully recovered. And my Mosquito Defense Pack now comes in a mobile version.
Just like my book marketing.
I live in a small town outside of Nashville (population about 10,000) but I finally had occasion to do some networking at a local bank here.
Met a few of the town officials and, when asked for a business card (which I no longer carry), gifted a book (my latest, Vision to Reality).
Now if you haven't published your book quite yet, you haven't had the "Oh my gosh, you wrote this!" experience.
Which is exactly what happened when the person I met held my book in her hot little hands.
I was invited to another event, to join a women's group, and to come talk to yet another group that's a book club.
All because I passed out a book.
Not every person has such an extreme, positive reaction. Sometimes it's a normal positive reaction.
Here's the point: it's always positive. It always leaves an impression. It will lead to something, someday. I can't predict when, where, who, or how much, but it's coming. Because I'm prepared.
I want you to be, too, so...
What's the one book marketing tip that applies to all authors, regardless of genre, the author's personality, budget, or available marketing time?

It's to get your books in motion.
My challenge to you is to get your Book MAP (marketing action plan) in order and include an action item:
-->Today and every day for at least the next 30 days, get your book in motion.*
This might require a shift in mindset. So if you find yourself thinking, Those kids are $3 each! Or, Maybe Honorée can afford to give books away but I’ve got to keep an eye on my expenses! then I encourage you to shift into some serious abundance thinking.
You’ve already paid for the books. They are on your shelf or in that box, remember?
They aren’t going to bring you new business or new money if they stay where they are. #justsayin’
If you’re watching your nickels (I get it!), use an app like BookFunnel to distribute digital ebook copies and while you’re at it, build your email list.
My point is: a book in motion is money in motion, a book at rest is money at rest. Be creative and get at least one of your books in motion today.
Go!
