804 KG Total Weight Recorded at UAE Fishing Championship

The UAE Fishing Championship (Kingfish & Cobia), organized by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) as part of the 2024-2025 marine sports season, concluded last Sunday at Dubai Harbour. The event set new records, highlighting the continuous growth of the sport. The competition has become increasingly professional under updated rules and regulations.

The total weight of fish recorded at the end of the championship reached an impressive 804 kg. A total of 32 fish were officially counted, including 22 Kingfish weighing a combined total of 551.9 kg and 10 Cobia fish with a total weight of 252.9 kg. All were caught during the five-day competition.

As part of DIMC’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility, all fish caught during the championship were donated to charity. In collaboration with Beit Al Khair Society, the club ensured the distribution of the fish, reinforcing humanitarian values, promoting social responsibility, and fostering a culture of giving and cooperation in line with the 2025 Year of the Community theme, “Hand in Hand.”

The competition featured remarkable performances, including Mohammed Yousef Al Zarouni, who secured third place in both categories with a 31.7 kg Kingfish and a 28.6 kg Cobia, caught on the second and third days, respectively. Competitor Saeed Mohammed Jaber Al Muhairi, who finished ninth overall, caught two Kingfish weighing 26.9 kg and 24.1 kg.

Additionally, Abdullah Ahmed Al Marri contributed a Kingfish weighing 18 kg and a Cobia weighing 26.6 kg. Tariq Abdul Rashid Ramadan landed three Kingfish weighing 21.7 kg, 19.4 kg, and 15 kg, while female competitor Lamia Al Saiqal secured fifth place with two Cobia fish weighing 26.3 kg and 20.8 kg.

Mohammed Abdullah Harib, Board Member and CEO of DIMC, expressed his gratitude to all participants and partners for the success of the UAE Fishing Championship – Dubai 2025. The event was held alongside the 31st edition of the Dubai International Boat Show. He acknowledged the support of the UAE Marine Sports Federation and event sponsors, including Delma Marine (official sponsor of the UAE Championship), Sayaf Marine, Al Yazi Marine, Advance Media, Bob Marlin, Da Hunter, and the Elite Fishing App.

He commended the outstanding participation of 130 competitors, who left a mark with their impressive performances and new records. He added, “UAE Fishing Championship – Dubai 2025 continues to grow from strength to strength, embodying the spirit of solidarity and cooperation in the Year of the Community. Our partnership with Beit Al Khair Society ensures that this event contributes to a meaningful cause, aligning with the 2025 theme 'Hand in Hand.'”
