It is rightly said "Its not enough to be busy the question is : What are we busy about ? "
The global pandemic that has forced ourselves to shelter in our home and has left us with plenty of time in our hands. However, there are many who are using this precious time to only Netflix and chill. Of course, we all have tasks in our hands but are we utilizing the time to make it make the most out of them? Or even applying time management applications to stay on the schedule? Well, if you haven’t tried any of the time management applications and are facing problems while managing your quarantine time at home then, it is time to bring a change with the Pareto principle.
80/20 Rule or commonly known as Pareto Principle was developed by an Italian Economist. This simply denotes "the vital few and trivial many" which means most defects is the result of small percentage of the cause of the defect. This can be applied to different aspects of businesses such as quality control , production , sales , etc. Here are my findings on the result of applying within my org lobby -
- · 80% of the sales volume comes from 20% of the products
- · 80% of the revenue comes from 20% of the total customers
- · 80% of the crashes are caused by the 20% of bugs
So 80% of your outputs comes from the 20% of your tasks , then it is very right to say that 20% of the tasks will have 80% of the impact. All we need to do is to identify that whether 20% tasks can yield 80% of production for your aim. Now here is a list of 5 questions to ask yourself ( this usually come under a Time Matrix which i will touch base in my next blogs )
- · Are all tasks in my list labelled as urgent?
- · Am I wasting too much time on a particular task?
- · Am I the most qualified to perform these tasks?
- · Can I delegate some of my tasks to others?
- · Are those tasks crucial for the overall outcome?
These questions may help you to come up with 20% of the tasks that will generate 80% of the output . You will not find the result until you gather your guts and apply them to your business structure.

4 年Yes Right, if we notice the same is applicable in majority situations. In short max times, its just the vital few that could result in huge impact and if the vital few are controlled results are exceptional
