8 Ways to Give Your Property a Boost this Summer

  1. Tidy Up — If your property looks dirty or unkempt, tenants may look elsewhere. Keep it sparkling clean by pressure-washing siding and fences, exterior walls, sidewalks, and patios. Also, repair and seal cracks on walkways, driveways, and patios, as well as fix broken or loose railings.
  2. Touch-ups Matter — The Southwest can be a tough environment and — over time — paint can start to deteriorate. Touch it up regularly to keep your property looking its best.   3. Summer = Swim time — If your property has a pool or spa, it’s probably in high use right now so it’s vital to perform regular maintenance and keep it clean. Test chlorine levels, change filters and fix cracked tiles and any other issues. Ensure fences around the pool are secure and the gate has a working latch.
  4. Stay Cool — As temperatures rise, your tenants expect your property’s air conditioning system to be in top working order. If it isn’t, there’s no doubt you’ll hear about it! Service your AC units, stay on top of maintenance (e.g., replace or clean filters), and find a reliable repair service.
  5. Freshen up Foliage — First impressions matter and landscaping say a lot about a property. Trim trees, shrubs, and bushes periodically. Consider hiring a landscaping firm, which can help keep grounds free of weeds, leaves and other problems.

  8. Security Matters — Today, more than ever, effective security is crucial. Give your tenants peace of mind by frequently inspecting all areas for security gaps. Check deadbolts, locks, and windows to confirm they function properly. Also, inspect fences, gates, and cameras to see if there are any repairs or updates necessary.
