8 Tips to Finish 2023 Strong

8 Tips to Finish 2023 Strong

As soon as the pumpkin pie was placed on the Thanksgiving table, I knew my plate would be passed down for seconds, and there would be no regrets! Double vanilla ice cream as well because who can eat pumpkin pie without the ice cream?? My family actually started a new tradition this year- we made mini pies in muffin tins to eat for breakfast because we’re always so full at the end of the Thanksgiving meal- talk about a little overindulgence!? Whether you are still full from the delicious Thanksgiving meal or sore from the annual flag football, I hope everyone had a restful, enjoyable, and yummy holiday celebration!

Every day, we are faced with distractions that interfere with our priorities and goals. From having that second slice of pumpkin pie to making ten extra phone calls per week to prospects to hit your monthly goals, it is within our control to overcome our distractions and to practice becoming self-disciplined to help us stay focused.

More importantly though, the focus of self-discipline allows space to take time to enjoy the small moments of this month of miracles.? Being disciplined is actually freeing- it allows time to take in the glint from an ornament or let the mind wander, staring at the flame of a menorah.

Self-discipline is the constant commitment to your goals, the ability to resist the allure of procrastination, and the dedicated focus on what truly matters. And as we approach the end of the year, it's a perfect reminder to "stay the course" and finish strong. To help run through the finish line of 2023, here are some tips that I have found to help me stay focused during this season:

  • Set Clear Goals: Define your targets with clarity. Whether it's a business milestone or a personal achievement, having well-defined goals creates a roadmap for your journey.? It’s December 1- there are 30 days left in the year- what are the most important goals that are attainable and measurable?

  • Prioritize Tasks: Not all tasks are created equal. Identify the high-impact activities that align with your goals and tackle them first. This ensures you're investing your time where it matters most.

  • Create a Routine: Establishing a daily routine can be a game-changer. This can be as simple as making your bed, but a structured day not only boosts productivity but also fosters a sense of control over your time.

  • Break It Down: Large tasks can be intimidating. Break them into smaller, more manageable steps and celebrate those victories along the way to stay motivated.

  • Embrace Accountability: Share your goals with a trusted friend or colleague because having someone to hold you accountable adds an extra layer of motivation and support.

  • Eliminate Distractions: Focus is a finite resource, and although we all think we can multitask, we were not built for the juggle. Politely decline tasks or commitments that don't currently fit with your priorities because this will allow you to dedicate your energy to what truly matters.

  • Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge and celebrate all wins, from big to small. It's these victories that fuel your journey and reinforce the habit of self-discipline.

And last but maybe most important:??

Give Yourself Some Grace: ?It is the holiday season- the month of miracles.? For me, this means getting together to make memories with family and friends.? Make the time for this.? This may mean you skip that morning run or eat an extra cookie but filling your cup with people who matter is just as important as a focused and disciplined mindset.

Remember, the path to success is a marathon, not a sprint. Let's approach the coming year with enthusiasm, resilience, and a commitment to mastering self-discipline.? This self-discipline will allow the necessary space for the wonder of a child to creep into each day.?

In this space that is created by self-discipline, when the mind is calm and a path to the goal is set, we can realize we are all connected and living in the same world. Wishing you all a holiday season filled with memories, joy and the wondering mindset of a child at Christmas.
