What happens when you date a writer?
What happens when you’re a writer who dates another writer (or any other creative, for that matter)?
Could be a lot of drama. Ah, the artistic temperament. I mean, celebrity couplings and breakups. F. Scott Fitzgerald stealing his wife’s work. Et cetera, et cetera.
But falling in love with a writer could also mean meeting your life’s muse — an unending source of inspiration beyond just creative work.
And being with a writer has a lot of perks and quirks! Source: trust me, I’m engaged to one. :)
So just for kicks, and because it’s almost Valentine’s Day, I thought it would be fun to share some of the things you can expect when you decide to ~commit~ to a fellow creative. ?
Perks and quirks of dating a writer, when you’re also a writer
1. You become their muse or inspiration
You’ll get sweet messages, meaningful cards, and maybe even poems and essays written with you in mind. You might find your funny habits referenced in their video scripts. A date might inspire a social media post idea. A nonchalant expression of yours might unlock a whole slew of ideas. After all, the best creative ideas are built on real human insights.
2. You become a built-in brainstorming partner ??
Whether you’re a creative person or not, the writer you love will value having a collaborator for sudden brainstorming sessions. Just someone to bounce ideas off of can help with creative block, and can help ground their ideas in reality.
