8 Suggestions for Hiring Gen Z

Gen Z is grown up and working full-time in the workplace.

Soon there will be more Zoomers working full-time than Baby Boomers!

In fact, in 2024, the generation born between 1996 and 2010 is anticipated to overtake Baby Boomers in the full-time workforce, according to a recent analysis by Glassdoor.

Like generations before them, this generation is bringing to the workforce a different set of values, behaviors, and expectations, which is creating ripples throughout workplaces.

One thing we know for sure...You won't be able to run your business without hiring Gen Zers.

Here are 8 Suggestions for Hiring Gen Z Talent.

  1. Hire on potential.?What Gen Z doesn’t know, they’ll most certainly figure out.
  2. Enough with the Applicant Tracking Systems already.?All these systems are doing is screening talent out. You want to screen talent in, which can only be done by a real person trained on how to select for success.
  3. Be honest.?Let candidates know if you’re not planning to go any further in the interviewing process. Wouldn’t you want to know this?
  4. Pay them competitively.?You may not personally agree with the way wages are going with new grads, and that’s okay. If you want to be sure your offer is accepted, make a good offer right out of the gate.
  5. Be realistic.?Determine if a college degree is?necessary?for a particular position. If it’s not, don’t list this as a requirement.
  6. Seek talent where Gen Z is hanging out.?Double down on your knowledge of social media and use this avenue to reach Gen Z candidates. Better yet, hire a Gen Zer to lead this campaign.
  7. Emphasize opportunities.?It’s no secret that Gen Zers are on the lookout for their next move. Make sure this move is with you by showcasing a clear career path.
  8. Remain flexible.?Work from anywhere is a huge draw for Gen Z. So is hybrid work. When possible, give people the opportunity to choose which approach works best for them.

Spot-On item 2! Not only for Gen Z. These systems are all-around Gen killers.?
