8 steps that will make you perform better than 97% of people

Taking action is one of the most important parts of facing uncertainty, since you learn with each step you take.?Research?by Timothy Ott and Kathleen Eisenhardt demonstrates that most successful breakthroughs are produced by a series of small steps, not giant bet-the-farm efforts.?Here are the 8?steps that will make you perform better than 97% of people?

Step 1. Chase your purpose

Chasing your purpose gives every action you take a greater meaning. You’re now chasing something greater than you, something that provides you fulfillment and creates an impact on the world. You’re no longer doing things just for the sake of it, and it shows in how you perform.

Step 2. Set your direction

Your next step is to set your goals. This is what will give you day-to-day direction in life and help you actually chase your purpose. I recommend setting a BIG goal in 3 areas: physical, financial, purpose related. Do this and you’ll cover each major area of your life and be able to cover every other area as well.

Step 3. Create your process

There’s no point in knowing where you want to go if you don’t know how to get there. Create your plan and break it down into daily actions, these will make your big goals seem manageable. These are what will help you with consistency in the long run.

Step 4. Learn to pivot

You need to be analysing your progress regularly and then implementing what you learn. If you need to pivot slightly, you need to be willing to do that. If you need to make a complete 180, you need to be willing to do that. Listen to the data and see what works, just make sure you keep showing up.

Step 5. Optimise your sleep

You are not one of these rare anomalies who can thrive on 3 hours sleep. If you think you feel good on little sleep, get 7 to 9 hours consistently and you’ll feel like a God.

Some tips:

- Avoid caffeine 10 hours before bed

- Supplement magnesium and zinc

- Avoid bluelight after sunset

- Get sun exposure when you wake up

- Go to sleep and wake up at the same time each morning and night

Step 6. Optimise your nutrition

I don't care what diet you follow, keto, paleo, vegan, carnivore - just do what makes you feel good. Experiment with different diets and go with what makes you feel like you can take over the world. One stipulation: make sure you get your protein in.

Step 7: Optimise your training

You cannot and will not be a high performer if you are not looking after your body. Whether you lift weights or do calisthenics, you need to be purposefully getting your body stronger. Some tips:

- Don't be afraid of heavy weights

- Form > ego

- Get a coach if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Step 8: Know your priorities "LOVE ALWAYS WINS"

Life is going to throw curveballs at you. Knowing your priorities is crucial to ensure you can still perform and get what you need to get done, done, regardless of what life throws at you. Keep in mind: You can’t pour from an empty cup. So if you’re not chasing your purpose and mission you are going to be an empty cup that your family cannot rely on. Don't be afraid to say “no” to ensure you can chase your purpose and follow the plan.

Repeatedly reinforce to yourself:
- What result do you want?
- Why it is important to you?
- Which specific actions do you need to take?
- When are you going to take these actions?
