8 Steps to Building A Course in Kajabi

8 Steps to Building A Course in Kajabi

If you’re an online coach or a course creator who’s just starting out, building your first online course may seem daunting - but it doesn’t have to be!

Kajabi is a powerhouse app that allows even beginners to build, market, and launch their own course in no time. Kajabi provides a lot of extra help so you know what to do.

Let me break down the process into 8 easy steps:

1. Select the Course product type. Kajabi allows you four options:

  • Course - This is the most commonly used product type. You can build or upload your modules here. Kajabi will populate a lot of content that you can customize.
  • Podcast - This allows you to host your Podcast on Kajabi.
  • Community - This allows you to bring your members together so they can connect with one another, as well as discuss and ask questions.
  • Coaching - With this service offering, your clients can book an online session with you for coaching, track their progress, etc.

To build your first online course, log in to your account, click Course and Get Started

2. Type the title of your course and add a description.

Your course title should be easily understood by your target audience, and the description should help expound on what the course is about. Click Continue.

3. The next page is where you set up the primary branding for your course

The image you upload here will be displayed on the offer checkout page and your customers' dashboard. Take note of the recommended image dimensions: 1280 x 720px.

If you don’t have an image with these dimensions, you can use photo editors like Canva to make the necessary adjustments.

4. Connect to Kajabi Payments. You can have a free or paid course

When you’re starting out, you have the option to connect Kajabi Payments to accept credit/debit cards and Apple Pay/Google Pay. Many users select Stripe and Paypal as their payment methods.

5. Kajabi generates your course outline

After you’ve set up these attributes, Kajabi then generates your course outline by suggesting a framework for what it thinks your course will be based around. You have full control to customize everything: publish, draft, or rearrange your modules and lessons as needed.

6. Upload your content and add titles to Modules and Lessons

Clicking each section allows you to customize and upload files. Start off by writing a lesson title and selecting the module. Upload a lesson thumbnail, which you can create on your own using apps like Canva.

Here is where you upload a video of your lesson or audio content so you can have your audio separate from your video. You can make your audio downloadable so people can listen to it Podcast-style. You can also upload files that your members can download such as PDFs, worksheets, and images.

You have automation options. For example, you can customize this so that your students receive an email every time they complete a lesson.

7. Customize and design your course page

You can check how everything looks from your end-user’s perspective by going to the Customize tab. You can add your logo, hero image, customize your side bar, add links to your community, instructor bio, and downloadble files. Make the necessary changes and click Save.

8. Price your course by creating an offer

Now it’s time to price your offer by going to the Offers tab. You can have a paid course and set a one-time charge for this. On the same page, set the price of your course.

On Kajabi, you have 2 payment options: Stripe and Paypal. You can use both.

Under Offers, you can customize how you’re selling the course and the package you’re putting it in. For example, you can sell your course as is, make this as an offer, promote this to your email list, and sell the product.

Note: You can also create multiple offers (one time payment, monthly or annual subscription) and linking it to the same course.

Make sure to review everything and save all your changes. Test it out before marketing the course. How do you market your course? We’ll take that up in the next blog.

DID YOU KNOW?

  1. Your customers can also download the Kajabi App so they can listen and watch the course anywhere.
  2. If you want your students to receive a certificate of completion, go to the Certificates tab and tick Provide certificates for this course. Kajabi allows you to customize the content of your certificates by ticking the items you want added, such as your logo, certificate title, student’s name, etc.

That’s how easy it is to build your own online course and turn it into a world-class learning experience for your students. Not only does Kajabi allow you to upload your learning materials, but it also helps you build and nurture a community of learners, which is essential as an educator, coach, and entrepreneur.

If you need a hand in building and marketing your course, there are Kajabi VA experts who will be more than happy to assist. While Kajabi makes it easy for coaches to set things up on their own, some of you may be too busy and could use a hand.

Perhaps you only want to focus on developing your course content, your business strategy, and growth - and that’s perfectly okay! You can partner with Kajabi VAs so you can focus on the bigger and more important stuff.
