8 Simple tips to Super Duper Facebook ads!

8 Simple tips to Super Duper Facebook ads!

I hear (from a lot of digital marketing experts!) that Facebook ads are not working for them. Cost-per-click is increasing and CTR’s are going down. Facebook algorithms are just spending money and not giving results.

No wonder they are poor performing. Cause you are not taking enough efforts to make it work.

Take an example of an ad on television. If the ad is using bad graphics, dull actors and annoying music, would you stretch until the end of the commercial?

No! you won’t.

Facebook works in a similar way & helps value-adding posts reach their target audience at a lower cost. As for any first time or (even a high spending) seasoned Facebook advertiser, here are few tips to get your Facebook ad work like they have been working in the past.

1. Use crisp messaging

Users crave for quality content. Write something that adds value to your target audience. Never ever write “Shop, Buy, Order” in your ad text. It just annoys the user and helps them scroll their news feed w/o clicking on your ad. Secondly, you have a call to action button for that purpose, more on it later.

Say you are selling handcrafted shoes, write the backstory about your brand and how it differentiates you from all non-handcrafted shoe brands. Start introspecting about your brand and you will come up with better ideas.

Use curiosity builder techniques such as a deep link to a challenge for more engaged audience interaction.

2. Compelling Ad Creative

Use human models in ad creative to improve CTR’s. For example, say you own a customized t-shirt brand. Would your target audience click on a simple hanged t-shirt ad or a tom-boy wearing that funky t-shirt? Your answer is what the ad creative wants.

Pro tip 1: Use the exact  recommended sizes for your Facebook ads.
Pro tip 2: Use brand logo in every ad creative.

3. Text overlay for Dynamic Product Ads

Facebook recently rolled out(worldwide) text overlay for Dynamic Product Ads. A lot of advertisers either unaware of this feature or are just lazy ! So here is your opportunity.

Use overlays to dynamically show sale discounts & prices in an attractive way. This allows you t edit ad creatives at scale. (Connect your product feed and select add overlay at ad creative level. more here)

4. Call to Action (CTA)

Out of the total 14 buttons available on the Facebook UI, here is a brief when should you use them. Top 5 here.

Download- Use for App install/plugin installs. Very high intent.

Book Now- Stand up comedians can use this very effectively for event booking.

Learn More- Curiosity builder. Good for a right jab!

Shop NowYou would see 90% of the advertisers use this CTA & it’s obvious.

Pro Tip: Don’t Use “Shop Now” directly if you are just starting Facebook ads. Use Learn More or Watch More.

5. Headline and description

Try these combinations

Experiment with these combinations and let me know which worked in the comments below.

6. Coupon codes

Always include coupon code in your ad text. Put your code in double coated inverted commas. Something like this “DIWALI20”. Keep it simple.

Alternatively, you can write Coupon Code can be written as a headline.

Pro Tip: Use category & campaign specific coupons to track which campaigns are really giving you conversions. You can further scale up on that particular coupon code offer.

7. Auto Card rotation & Hashtags in ad copy (Instagram)

Auto rotation for long-term ads. No autorotation for a small term. Manually check and compare the carousel card performance and then take a call which ad creative is working for you.

Hashtag is the currency for reaching new audiences on Instagram. Use them wisely. Use  hashtagify.me to find relevant hashtags in your industry.

8. Use Video

"Video" is all over Facebook, Instagram, Snap chat, LinkedIn & almost every major social platform. Facebook allows in-feed and in-stream video ad placement. Get a tailor-made one made from fiverr.com.

A study shows 7 second is the optimum length for a video on Instagram. Use music only if it suits your product offering.

Don’t play any random music.

Lastly, your ad copy should answer this question.

Why?

Great read Abhishek! The article is very crisp and I agree with all these points. It's often that people knowing or unknowingly miss these key points resulting in a failed campaign.
