BEWARE: This virus affects our life every December and it is called the ‘New Year RESOLUTION” virus. The symptoms being –

1)??? People set overly ambitious goals and the start date is normally January 1st.

2)??? The virus stays active till January 15th or 30th and then it fizzles out.

Do you resonate with this? Have you experienced it?

1.?? Unrealistic Expectations:

Setting overly ambitious goals can lead to frustration and disappointment.

Example: Setting a goal to lose 20 pounds in a week, which is not realistic or healthy, leading to frustration

2.?? Lack of Specificity:

Vague resolutions without clear plans are harder to achieve.

Example: Deciding to "exercise more" without a clear plan, making it challenging to measure progress or stay committed.

3.??? Poor Planning:

Failing to outline steps and milestones makes it difficult to track progress.

Example: ?Wanting to start a blog but not outlining topics, schedule, or milestones, resulting in a lack of direction and progress.

4.??? No Accountability:

Lack of support or sharing goals reduces motivation and commitment.

Example:? You decide to lose weight, but you don’t share with people who can provide you with support or hold you to account. For instance, weight loss -You need a proper and regulated diet, but since you haven’t declared your goal to your partner or spouse, they are oblivious of your goals and do not offer any support.

5.???All-or-Nothing Mentality:

Viewing setbacks as complete failure instead of a part of the process.

Example: Eating one unhealthy meal and considering the entire diet ruined, neglecting the progress already made and go on an overeating spree.

6.? Too Many Resolutions:

Juggling numerous resolutions may overwhelm and dilute focus.

Example: ?Making New Year's resolutions for fitness, career, and hobbies all at once, spreading focus thin and feeling overwhelmed.

7.? Lack of Intrinsic Motivation:

Resolutions without genuine personal meaning are harder to sustain.

Example: Setting a goal to learn a language because it's trendy, rather than a genuine personal interest, making it harder to stay committed.

8.? Impatience:

Expecting immediate results rather than understanding change takes time.

Example:? Expecting immediate weight loss after a day of healthy eating and exercise, instead of recognizing that results take time and consistency.
