8 Questions to Ask At An Interview
Interviews are a two way street. Both sides have questions that need to be answered before they can commit!

8 Questions to Ask At An Interview

You’ve landed the interview and successfully managed to answer all of the HR manager’s questions when they suddenly turn the tables and ask if you have any questions for them.? After years of working with recruiters and human resource managers, we have found that many military job seekers don’t take advantage of this opportunity to ask intelligent questions.

Below are 8 questions all military job seekers should ask during an interview (time permitting) to demonstrate that you’re an eager and well-informed candidate. Remember, asking the right questions will set you apart from others in the interview process.

1.?? ?What responsibilities could I expect with this position? Asking for a list of responsibilities is a good way to show that you want to succeed and this demonstrates you would be a good hire to the hiring manager.

2.?? ?How will I be evaluated or assessed? Inquiring about the opportunities for growth within your career shows that you are focused on learning and exceeding expectations in that role.

3.?? ?What is the predicted growth and advancement within the company? This shows that you are looking at the bigger picture and it also demonstrates that you have a lot of drive and ambition.

4.?? ?How would you describe the company culture here? This is a great question to ask because you spend most of your time at work. You want to make sure you are working in an environment that is a mutual good fit. For example, if you like a formal, structured environment, then a casual, relaxed environment may not be the best fit for you.

5.?? ?What processes are in place to help me work collaboratively? Showing that you enjoy working in a group setting demonstrates that you are a team player. This shows that you can work well with others and that you are dedicated to helping the team in any way possible.

6.?? ?When did you join the company? This makes for a nice change after the interviewer has asked questions about you. People tend to like talking about themselves and they will typical talk about their growth with the company which can give you some valuable information.

7.?? ?What is your management style? Identifying your manager’s leadership style is very important to know. A manager may not always evaluate themselves accurately but they will give you some insight as to how they promote, lead, and connect with their employees.

8.?? ?What do you enjoy most about working here? Asking the hiring manager to describe what they like best about working for the company shows that you’re interested to know whether you would be a good fit for the job and the overall environment within the company.

It is important to do your homework before every interview you attend. Most hiring managers like to hear questions that demonstrate you are interested in the job as well as interested in the details, such as the company’s culture, the management style and your daily responsibilities.

Asking the right questions in an interview can be what sets you apart from your competition. Always check out the company’s website before the interview and reread the job description so you can confidently discuss how you can meet their needs. Asking the right questions and preparing for an interview is going to be your ticket to landing your dream job!
