Shoppable Streaming: A New Era of Interactive Advertising?
Netflix's latest partnership with Google is certainly making waves in the streaming industry. Through their "Emily in Paris" collaboration, Netflix is integrating Google Lens technology, allowing viewers to shop the show’s iconic fashion right from their screens. This is more than just another ad integration—it's a creative blend of entertainment and e-commerce, offering an interactive shopping experience while watching your favorite series.
This move, alongside shoppable pause ads and title sponsorships, signals a shift toward more engaging advertising models. As streaming platforms continue to explore new revenue streams, could we see this type of integration becoming a regular feature across the board? The potential for similar collaborations could revolutionize the way brands engage with content and audiences, offering both creative value and commercial impact.
With this trend on the rise, the question for those of us in the streaming industry is: Could these shoppable integrations become a staple in our marketing playbooks?

The Summer of Sports: Pushing the Limits of Live Streaming
This summer’s lineup of major sporting events has been a masterclass in the power—and challenges—of live sports streaming. With global events like the UEFA European Championship and the Paris Olympics drawing millions of viewers, it’s clear that streaming is becoming a dominant force in how audiences consume sports content. However, the growing scale of these events also brings challenges, like the infamous latency issues during the England vs. Switzerland match, reminding us that real-time viewing in streaming still has room for improvement.
As streaming platforms continue to grow, especially in the sports sector, it's the innovations in content delivery that will shape the future. From leveraging CDNs to reducing latency, to more dynamic viewing experiences like helmet cams and 360-degree video, the potential for enhancing live sports streaming is huge. But with increasing competition among platforms, the quality of experience—reduced buffering, better image quality, and minimal delays—will be what sets services apart. Could these developments lead to streaming becoming the go-to standard for sports broadcasting? It’s certainly trending that way.

The longest-running live stream
The website "Slow TV" in Norway once live-streamed a 134-hour-long journey of a cruise ship traveling along the Norwegian coast in 2011. This event became a national phenomenon, showing that streaming doesn’t always have to be fast-paced to capture an audience.
