Some "Heroic" Security Officers Stop Armed Man Wearing Devil Mask From Entering Florida Strip Club

?

Tampa Florida

Three "heroic" security officers are being praised after surveillance video captured them stopping an armed man wearing a devil mask from entering a Florida strip club, potentially saving "dozens of lives," the Tampa Police Department said Tuesday.

Police said the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Michael Rudman, arrived at Mons Venus on Sunday wearing a red and black devil mask with the words "Kill" and "Dark One" written on his arms. The suspect is seen in the surveillance footage walking toward the entrance of the strip club with what police said was a fully loaded firearm in one hand and a flashlight in the other.

One of the security officers noticed the firearm and knocked the weapon out of the suspect's hand. The guard then picked up the gun and pointed it at the suspect, but rather than back down, he attempted to grab the gun back. A struggle then ensued with three guards attempting to hold Rudman and pin him to the ground. One of the guards suffered minor injuries during the incident, police said.

A single round from Rudman's gun also struck the front door of the venue, police added, but it was unclear who fired the gun. No one was wounded by the gunfire.

Police eventually arrived and took Rudman into custody. They found two additional loaded magazines in his pocket and more ammunition, knives and firearm holsters in his truck, police said.

Tampa Police interim Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement that they will continue to investigate the thwarted incident and praised the efforts to stop Rudman.

"There is no question that the security guards who disarmed this suspect saved dozens of lives through their heroic acts, and I am thankful our officers were able to take this individual into custody before he had a chance to carry out whatever he had planned," Bercaw said.

Rudman was booked into Falkenburg Road Jail and faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and purchasing, possessing, or receiving a firearm while under a risk protection order, police said.

Police said his motive is under investigation and noted that Rudman was allegedly at the venue the night prior.

Security Officers Help Mother Give Birth in An Apartment

Yellowknife Canada

If you think security work is boring, mostly consisting of napping while you wait for your shift to end, think again.

Two security officers, Shawn Hamilton and Tyler Nagel, were confronted with an emergency baby delivery.

The two of them were sitting in their office in Norseman Manor, located on 52 Avenue, when someone arrived at their door, telling them that their friend was in labour, and directed them to an apartment.

You can only imagine their surprise when they arrived at the scene where Sandra Drybones, in fact, was halfway through delivering her baby with no midwives or medical professionals on site.

For half a second, Hamilton said that his brain wanted to shut down.

Nagel asked Hamilton if he had ever delivered a baby before to which he replied, “No, but we can’t just leave it there.”

Hamilton said that he had first-aid training but there was nothing that could have prepared him for that situation.

“All that came to my head was the importance of cleanliness in this kind of situation,” he recalled.

Hamilton and Nagel washed their hands, gathered clean towels, and got to work.

Hamilton placed the baby into his hands with the towels and spoke to Drybones to keep her calm.

Five minutes after their arrival on scene, the baby was delivered.

He made sure that the baby was OK and helped Drybones to stay relaxed until EMS arrived. He left the umbilical cord attached.|

Anna Drybones was born weighing 5.25 pounds.

She was born prematurely, which is why the birth came as such a surprise.

Hamilton said that Sandra was a champion through the whole ordeal.

“While giving birth, she was having a normal conversation with us between the screams of labour.

“She’s one strong woman.”

Hamilton said that he went into shock afterwards, believing the incident to have just been a dream until he saw the blood on his hands.

Tyler Argue, Risk Control’s vice president of business operations, said that residents of Norseman Manor started realising that security with go beyond their normal roles to help people, which is why they are being contacted by residents like the Drybones’ family.

“As a risk management firm local to Yellowknife, we are extremely proud to celebrate the successes of our team and highlight those positive public interactions where we feel our officers went above and beyond the typical role of security,” he said. “Though most security officers are trained in standard first-aid and CPR, not everyone would be comfortable in this particularly stressful situation.

“We also want to congratulate Sandra Drybones on the birth of her new baby and welcome Anna into the world!”

Philadelphia PA

A gunman was shot by a security officer during a shootout that also injured three women at a hookah lounge near Temple University, police said.

According to police, the incident happened before 3 a.m. on Sunday at the Hubble Bubble hookah lounge along the intersection of Diamond and North 10th Streets -- near the offices for Temple's football team.

Police said a 23-year-old man opened fire at a security officer after he was escorted out of the hookah lounge. According to law enforcement officials, the gunman, who has not yet been identified by police, pulled a firearm after being escorted outside causing a security officer to draw his weapon.

The security officer fired, shooting the gunman in the left side of his torso, according to investigators. Police said the gunman hit three female bystanders when he fired back.

Stray bullets struck a 20-year-old woman in the right arm, a 19-year-old woman in the leg and a 47-year-old woman in the arm, police said.

All three women were taken to nearby hospitals and were placed in stable condition. The 23-year-old man was listed in critical condition in a nearby hospital. He is in police custody, officials said.

The security officer was not hurt during the shooting.

Bullet holes piercing the window of the hookah lounge and spent casings could be seen strewn along the ground on Sunday morning.

S.C. Security Officer, Suspect Shot During Incident in Carolina Forest Neighborhood

Myrtle Beach SC A security officer was shot during an incident in a Carolina Forest neighborhood on Saturday, according to his employer.

Phoenix Security Solutions said the officer saw a dispute happening between two neighbors in the Avalon community that began getting very heated. While trying to resolve the situation, one of the neighbors took the officer’s body camera and ran into his house.

The neighbor in question is also known to suffer from severe PTSD, according to the company.

Meanwhile, the security officer called dispatch and asked if the Horry County Police Department could help get his camera back. The suspect then reappeared and allegedly pointed a shotgun at the other neighbor. The security officer then drew his weapon, telling the suspect to drop the shotgun.

The suspect then allegedly fired the shotgun at the officer, striking him in the face from about 25 feet away. The officer was then able to get behind cover but was also shot again in the back of the head. According to the company, the suspect allegedly fired the shotgun at least eight times.

Phoenix Security Solutions said the officer then returned fire, hitting him three times with his handgun and “was able to successfully subdue the armed subject.”

HCPD officers and Horry County Fire Rescue personnel were soon at the scene and were able to find the security officer. Police also apprehended the suspect, who was taken to a hospital. Their identity has not been released as of Sunday morning.

Neighbors also rushed to help the wounded officer, who Phoenix Security Solutions said has no life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover. Phoenix Security Solutions added that the officer was having trouble with his contacts and wearing his glasses at the time helped save his right eye from being severely damaged.

Shortly after the incident, neighbors and others in the surrounding Avalon community were told to stay indoors. Drivers were also asked to avoid the area.

WMBF News spoke with a resident of the neighborhood who said his wife heard the shots being fired at the security guard.

“The security guy came back, and that’s when he shot him,” said Joe Allen, who said he’s lived in the neighborhood for around 15 years.

County-City Building Security Officer Praised for Quick Action

South Bend Indiana

A County-City Building security officer is being praised for his quick thinking in the line of duty.

The incident happened just before 8 last Friday morning.

Security personnel noticed a white SUV parked near the entrance... with a woman slumped over the wheel and loud music playing.

Officer John Kronewitter was approaching the vehicle when it started to drift forward. He grabbed the passenger door put the SUV in park and was able to wake-up the woman.

I was on the South Bend Police Department for 32 years.

So, I mean it's just something you get used to.

And like I said it's nothing' that nobody else would, wouldn't have done. So, really, you know, just makes you feel good that you could help somebody out and a bunch of people didn't get in an accident, or she ran into a building,” said John Kronewitter, CCB security officer.

The woman drove away a couple minutes later.

No one was injured.
