??8 Christmas Tips
Hey,
December can be a super busy time, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your health and fitness goals. Here are 8 Christmas tips to help you feel your best:
??Self Sabotage: A common pattern many women I work with struggle with is this:
Feel Stressed/Tired > Low energy > Eat Sweets/Savoury Food > Feel Guilty after > Feel like they have messed up > Think I have f**cked it up now so what's the point > Don't exercise the next day because they feel bad about messing up with their food > Repeat...
Here is an alternate version of that pattern:
Feel Stressed/Tired > Take a step back for a second and realise you are stressed/tired > Write down the source of your stress > Ask yourself what self-care you need right now to destress > Implement self-care routine > Feel better mentally and physically > Repeat...?
??Mindset: There is no such thing as falling off the wagon or having to start from scratch. Some weeks may be busy and require a focus on maintenance, while other weeks may be less hectic, allowing you more time to focus on progress. During busy weeks, shift your mindset to think, "What's one or two positive things I can do this week to keep feeling good?" On quieter weeks, challenge yourself to find areas where you can push a little harder and accomplish 4-5 positive things to make further progress.??
??Sustainability: If you want to make a lifestyle change that lasts for good aim to be consistent each week with your food, sleep, self care and exercise. Don't burn the candle at both ends by exercising really hard for a few days then doing nothing for a few weeks or similarly restricting your food for a few days then binging after. Slow and steady wins the race. ???
??Fitness: Over Christmas it's realistic to get 1 maybe 2 30 min workouts done between 23 Dec to Jan 1st. Aim to get out for some nice long walks with family or even do 10-15 mins of easy stretching some days to keep feeling good.?

??Christmas Treats: You won't ruin your progress just because you indulge a little more over Christmas and New years. Enjoy your time off and recharge fully ready to hit the ground running again once your holidays are over.?
??Mental Health: Have a specific self care plan over Christmas to reduce stress and stay present. Sleeping more, Hot baths with candles, not checking work emails, meeting friends for food and walks on the beach are all types of self care.
??Alcohol: When consuming alcohol, opt for lower-calorie mixers like Coke Zero instead of regular Coke. This simple substitution can save you 150 calories per glass. Additionally, consider choosing a Gin and tonic (120 calories) over a glass of red wine (200 calories).?
??Events: If you have some events planned that involves lots of food and drink, consider "saving" some calories to enjoy during that time. For example, if you reduce your calorie intake by 150 calories per day for five days, you would save up 750 calories. This means you can enjoy a bottle of wine or a couple of extra desserts over the weekend without causing additional weight gain or interfering with your physique-related goals. This approach is both realistic and sustainable for the majority of individuals.
