8 of the best free resources for Designers
Whether you dabble in design, or its your full time job, these free resource sites will provide you with the quality elements that you need for your project.
I know, 'Designers' is a fairly umbrella term. This list serves a variety of designers, including Motion Graphic designers, Interactive/Web Designers, Animators, Product designers, as well as Graphic Designers.
These are the sites that I love and use on the regular, and thought you might find helpful. Here's 8, super helpful and absolutely free resource sites, worth bookmarking in your browser.
- Unsplash.com
Unsplash is an absolutely amazing site. It offers super high quality photos completely free, no crediting of the author required with the ability do absolutely anything with them!
2. freepik.com
Freepik offers vector files, illustrations, icons, PSD and photos. If your working on a brochure this could be the perfect resource. Majority free, with additional files available if you sign up for premium.
3. Urbanfonts.com
Loads of free fonts, just download the TrueType font file and your good to go!
4. thenounproject.com
This site works on a pretty basic concept. Search any noun you can think of and it will give you an icon to match. You can then download that icon in a variety of file types, for use in your project. I spent quite a while searching nouns trying to beat the system. Turns out they aren't lying. It came up with at least one icon for every noun I could think of. Let me know if you manage to find a noun that it doesn't have an icon for!
5. brusheezy.com
Thousands of free photoshop brushes and PSD files. Definitely worth checking out if you spend a lot of time in Photoshop or illustrator.
6. graphiclegion.com
Mock ups, UI kits, font and icons can all be downloaded here completely free. Personally, I really love their mock ups.
7. webfieldmanual.com
Aside from being a really well designed site, this is an incredibly helpful resource. It provides tools divided into 2 categories; design resources and code resources. Code resources outlines a bunch of best practices, front end code standards, overviews on cross browser compatibility and the tools to achieve it etc... There is a lot here for UX and UI designers.
8. codebeautify.org
This site is packed with powerful functions to help you fix, and tidy up your code. Simply put, this site allows you to beautify your source code in ways you could have never imagined.
Maybe you've bumped into these sites before, maybe you use them every day. But hopefully, there's some sites here that you havent seen. Enjoy these sites and let me know how you go with them. Do they make your design process just that little bit easier?
