FAA Probes United 737 In-Flight Panel Loss
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an incident involving a United Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N26226, which lost an external panel during flight UA-433 from San Francisco International Airport, CA, to Medford-Rogue Valley International, OR, on March 15, 2024. The aircraft, carrying 139 passengers and six crew members, landed safely at Medford Airport without declaring an emergency, as no damage was detected during the flight. United Airlines announced a comprehensive inspection and necessary repairs before the 25-year-old aircraft returns to service, amidst increasing scrutiny on aviation safety standards following recent U.S. aviation incidents. FAA Highlights Surge in Laser Strikes on Aircraft
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has reported a significant increase in laser strikes on aircraft, marking 2023 as a record year with over 13,000 incidents nationwide, reflecting a 27% rise in Georgia alone, ranking it 9th in the U.S. for such events. Gwinnett County, Georgia, has experienced notable occurrences, with the local police department's helicopters targeted approximately 12 times last year, resulting in four arrests. These laser strikes, now deemed a federal crime, pose severe safety risks to pilots by causing disorientation and loss of control, underlining the critical need for awareness and adherence to legal prohibitions against this dangerous activity. ICAO Meeting Speculation Impacts Corsia Futures

Currently, only ACR and ART are eligible, with Guyana's issuance of vintage 2021 ART credits being the sole supply. Despite high interest in methane avoidance credits from landfill gas projects and biodigesters, insiders suggest new standards may not be approved at the next ICAO meeting, potentially constraining supply until the following TAB meeting later in the year.
