70 Years with 70 Moments: A Visual Journey of China Shipbuilding Industry's 70th Anniversary

70 years is so short that it feels like many events happened just yesterday. Yet, 70 years is long enough to encompass several generations of Guangzhou Shipyard International's dedicated and inspiring stories.


Seventy years ago, on August 1, 1954, Guangzhou Shipyard was established.

In the blink of an eye, 70 years of remarkable history have passed. Generations of Guangzhou Shipyard workers have fulfilled their mission and written brilliant chapters in the long river of history.


70 moments with 70 images, from black-and-white to colors, from the past to the present, captured forever in the river of historical memory at the moment the shutter clicked.


Born from Military Needs, Serving the Nation with Military Industry (1954-1978)


1. Early factory workers building the shipyard by hand.


2. 1955, Shanghai Shipbuilding Repair Yard supported Guangzhou Shipyard in completing dock gate construction.


3. 1956, representatives at the Shipbuilding Industrial Administration’s welding conference.


4. 1956, national plan and new product trial success commendation conference.

Longxu Shipyard Base Construction and Operation

70. 2022, completion of China’s first LNG bunkering ship retrofit at Wenchong.


If you asked me how many years will take to make a shipyard form zero to excellent, 70 years would be a reasonable number for Guangchuan Shipyard International. Thanks to the efforts of millions of workers, a magic can be produced just like the shipyard.
