Where is your team? 70% aligned 100% committed?
I have been spending time with some teams in the last few months both leading transformation to varying degrees of success. Both experienced, intelligent, good intentions. So why is one team making more progress than the other? I think it comes down to the degree to which individuals need to agree to then commit to the team goals. In a Volatile, Ambiguous, Complex and Uncertain (VUCA) world it may take too long to agree on priorities or goals perfectly but 70% is acceptable because we need a sense of urgency and a willingness to test, learn and adapt. This comes with accepting there will be mistakes along the way so when you think about we don't need to agree 100% because things are going to change anyway.
We encourage teams to disagree and commit and this is where 70% aligned and 100% committed really becomes a high performance competitive advantage. What do you need in your team to be high performing?
