7 Years of Disruptive Change

I’m focusing today on an important astrological cycle now underway. It is going to impact us on a global as well as personal level.

The cycle or transit is the planet Uranus going through the sign of Taurus. This transit technically started last year but that was, in truth, just the opening credits to the movie! We’re now experiencing the full impact for 7 years.

So what’s the big deal about this transit?

The answer is that Uranus is the planet associated with radical, disruptive change that is often unexpected. This can be quite unsettling.

However, what makes this particularly significant is that Taurus has to do with money and finances. The movement of Uranus through Taurus will alter many aspects of our financial world such as currencies, banking and investments. 

In some cases, our foundations will be radically altered. It is also likely we'll see a big increase in the use and acceptance of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

The spiritual purpose of Uranus is to support us in letting go of values, attitudes and patterns we’ve outgrown, and adopt new ones that reflect our current truth, values and priorities. With Uranus, there's an emphasis on freedom, humanitarian themes and new technologies.

Sometimes a Uranus transit is preceded by a period of disenchantment and a desire or need for change.

We all know that change can be a good thing but even when it is desirable and beneficial, it is not always easy! We tend to get accustomed to things being the way they’ve been and we resist change.

The sun signs most affected by this 7 year cycle are the fixed signs, i.e. Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Fixed signs typically have the greatest difficulty adapting to change, so expect some big shifts.

You'll be most impacted by Uranus this year if your birthday is between:

• April 20-30
• July 23-30
• October 23-30
• January 21-30

If you have a birthday in these date ranges or know someone who does, it will be important to understand this process!

You'll be challenged to let go of an outdated self concept and embrace out of the box, non-traditional views. Oftentimes, Uranus transits are preceded by or accompanied by a period of disenchantment or dissatisfaction and a desire to be more authentic and true to yourself.

You may feel very conflicted or confused. You may quit your job, leave a marriage or go off traveling. The need or desire for change can be strong. You may find yourself attracted to unconventional ideas or methods that previously you wouldn't have considered.

If you’re going through this now or feel that this energy is building, you may be reaching a break point and not knowing what to do. You may be feeling angry or like the rug is being pulled out from under you.

If any of these are happening, I cannot over emphasize the importance of a good support system and equally important—the knowledge of the what's going on in your personal birth chart. Each person’s situation is unique and different!
