7 years at Belong: 7 reasons I’ve stayed

For Belong's Operations Automation Senior Specialist, Sujit Shetty , trust, transparency, and thinking outside the box is key to getting the best results in his role and for his team.

From the get-go, Sujit has kicked goal after goal for the business, making loads of friends along the way. We wanted to know some of the reasons Sujit has stuck with Belong so long, and he was kind enough to share.

Reason 1: The culture

Seven years is a long haul, but it certainly doesn’t feel that way when your work culture is top-notch. For Sujit, that’s one of the many reasons he loves working at Belong. ‘It's great to be part of a team that is so supportive.’, says Sujit. ‘It’s not just about supporting those within my team, it’s also about supporting the business as a whole by sharing our areas of expertise with other teams.’

Reason 2: Making things easier for our customers.

While a lot of Sujit’s work happens behind the scenes, it makes a big difference to our customers, which is something Sujit is incredibly passionate about. ‘I'm always looking for ways to improve and innovate our processes for the benefit of our customers.’

Reason 3: The people

When it comes to his team, Sujit only has good things to say, mentioning that those he works most closely with play a big part in making each day at Belong an enjoyable one. Sujit and his team make the journey to the office each Wednesday to collaborate and connect in-person. ‘Being honest, trusting each other and sharing ideas is key.’

Reason 4: The role

To say Sujit is passionate about his role would be an understatement. When it comes to Operations Automation, it’s all about keeping things ticking in the backend for the benefit of the business and our customers. Sujit says there’s always ways we can improve or automate the way we do business, and his work is a testament to that.

Reason 5: Teamwork makes the dream work

A big part of Sujit’s role involves working with a wide range of teams across the business to make sure our automations are running smoothly. ‘I work with product owners, technical product owners, solution designers, solution owners, engineers and many more.’, says Sujit. With all hands on deck, visions become a reality in no time.

Reason 6: The opportunities

When it comes to opportunities to learn and upskill at Belong, Sujit says there’s plenty and he’s always keen to get involved. From courses through University of Melbourne to a range of other certification programs. Sujit’s all about making the most of those programs and any other opportunities for development.

Reason 7: The sense of achievement

With an impressive amount of experience to his name, you can bet Sujit has achieved a lot in his time at Belong. While that’s true, Sujit says one of his top accomplishments was winning a Telstra Quarterly Award for General Management. ‘Being nominated by my team for the way I lead and motivated them was a massive compliment in itself – winning it was just the cherry on top.’
