7 years, 700+ schools with Rs. 0 spent on marketing

Today, while many schools spend a lot to get acknowledged as a meaningful brand through parents and public. In next 3 minutes, you would be surprised to know that how this simple person has made it all possible for the schools with zero advertising or students’ acquisition cost. But first, did you see the above image carefully? A giant need of quality teachers’ training is helped through ‘Educational Events of India-EEI’ available resources with a conviction to help schools grow and fulfil its purpose. This year, my team is involved in EEI’s mission. Thus I thought to share it over LinkedIn so it reaches right people.

How I met this person

May 2017, I was conducting a teacher’s training session for an International school. Among the other participants, I saw him sitting at the end of the training-hall. He would not respond to my stimuli nor acknowledge my inputs; just maintaining a constant vigilant look. I thought him to be a member of school-management or one of the school-trustees who is evaluating the effectiveness of my training. I ended my training and was at school-principal’s office for the post-training briefing. After hearing me for 20 minutes, the school-principal asked the receptionist to respectfully send someone who is going to share his inputs and observations for my training.

The door opened, and Mr. Anil Kurup entered into principal’s office. I was about to confirm my conviction about him being the school-trustee or management guy but what I was told next disappointed me. Mr. Kurup is a trusted ally for this school-principal and the principal called him to evaluate my training programme and its effectiveness. I was perplexed to know that how could a third person who himself is a training-provider, is trusted so much by the school-principal. He shared his inputs and I left school-principal’s office happily. Next day, I received a call from Mr. Kurup that he wants to visit my office and meet my team. I invited him with warmth and 25 May 2017, he was in my office with a cause-driven strategy for Academic Year 2017-18. 

AY 2017-18 strategy; training K-12 teachers across India for FREE?

He first explained his own event TGSBC* to my team through which he reached these 700+ schools, all through word of mouth. This event has got him thousands of happy parents (school’s growth and purpose-fulfillment) from these schools those who keep asking their wards’ schools to conduct TGSBC each year. It reflected his simple and effective working strategy. Then he shared with us his 20 page synopsis that provides a fine comparison of key metrics, impact-factor and school-management feedback of teachers’ training programme being conducted by various trainers across India. He explained his rationale to choose us as his teachers’ training partner and felt obliged. 

He said that he wants to do our ‘K-12 teachers’ training programme’ that he witnessed along with his ‘TGSBC-2017’ across India. But what got us baffled was that he would conduct these teachers’ training programme free of cost for 101 schools in this academic year while paying us in advance. And as he explained further we got convinced with his mettle that has emerged working with (for) schools for last 20 years. Having understood that he could get this number easily through his personal-connect with more than 6000 schools across India. My team suggested him to get a one-pager for TGSBC-2017 and a formal brochure for his activity so that we could continue providing schools the dual benefit of ‘Spelling Bee’ and ‘K-12 teachers’ training’ each year to follow; a quality driven and cost-effective solution to schools pressing needs. These two elements of communication were designed for the first-time and it’s placed here alongwith our K-12 teachers’ training module.

*TGSBC- The Global Spelling Bee Championship 2017

EEI is conducting TGSBC-The Global Spelling Bee Championship since 2010 and for current year, it’s the seventh edition. It prepares and tests the participants (Class I to Class X) to write and spell a broad selection of words with a varying degree of difficulty. Through this championship, the participants learn all four essential rules of language i.e. phonology (basic sounds of a language), morphology (word formation rules), syntax (grammatical structure), and semantics (meaning of words) while they traverse four levels of excellence i.e. School->District->State->National. 

TGSBC- ‘Words Reference Guide-Book’ given to the participants is designed by a team of experts of the English language at EEI. It has life-time utility value and is divided into progressive segments suitable for class I to class X students and covers major part of the essential vocabulary required to have an optimum level of excellence (written and spoken) in English language. 

Schools are taking it with warmth !

Because of the dual benefits that Mr. Kurup has devised for schools in collaboration with us. We are overwhelmed with the response that we are getting from schools.
