7 Wildly Successful Things to Do Before Breakfast

Looking for a winning formula to master your time and grab your goals? Starting your day on a strong note elevates energy and boosts productivity and confidence. Ramping up your morning trickles into creating sound habits that impact the flow of each day and cumulatively generate greater awareness and clarity. Want in? Here are 7 ideas to motivate and inspire an upbeat beginning to your day. Challenge yourself to accomplish them by breakfast and reap the day-long positive vibes that will have you leading and loving September.

?Assemble and enable your toolbox. So very simple. Lay out your exercise clothes the night before so they are waiting for you when you wake up. Pre-edit a work document that you know you will open your computer to the very next day. Buy the ingredients for your favorite breakfast and set the alarm clock for 10-minutes earlier to afford you time to prepare it. Having what you need in front of you when you open your eyes in the morning is a game-changer because it supports your next step, which is to act on something that is of value to you. Having your “ingredients” in front of you helps to keep you accountable to the task.

?Learn something new. Love this one! You don’t have to master another language before your morning coffee, but you can read an article about something of interest to you or follow a video to learn a how-to. If you put this in play, you will learn 365 bite-size new things every year, all before breakfast!

?Make one bold decision and act on it. When you begin your day with choice, your choices multiple! Flip the script on putting off decisions and lead your most compelling before 9am. Magically, your day will unfold with new-found direction and actionable steps that get you where you need to be.

?Give yourself a permission slip. Like most people, you are probably hardest on and most critical about yourself. What changes if you awake to a physical permission slip written the night before? This gift to yourself allows you to bypass overwhelm and fear and cut to the chase on whatever is essential to you. Allow your permission slip to change with and reflect the moment. Maybe one day this directs you toward permission for self-care, and on another it is permission to ask more questions, or to apply for a new job before you finish your coffee. Allowing in what you most need at the start of each day turns the spotlight to what is both possible and necessary.

?Complete a personal task. Checking the box next to done is uplifting and meaningful, especially when it is at the top of the day. Your work agenda is often the calendar that gets checked and rechecked throughout the day, yet your personal one may be lagging. Use the early morning hours to RSVP an event, pay a bill, book a trip, exercise, or prepare a healthy dinner. Lean into the glow of this completed task as you power through the complexities of your work day.

?Bask in the moment. Early AM awareness and gratitude sets the tone for mindfulness that lasts all day. Ask yourself, “What does this moment bring to me? What do I bring to this day?” Then do what calms and centers you. For some it may be yoga or a jog, for others meditation, and someone else may recharge with another 30-minutes of sleep. Customize the start of your day, and the ability to further control and steer the hours ahead becomes more easily within your grasp.

?Time block. This varies by the day and is a success technique that spends and or invests the time you do have, rather than the time you do not. It is easy to wake up and feel rushed or without the time or energy to complete something early. Yet, every day has a built-in time-block allowance that is uniquely yours to decide. You get to make deposits and withdrawals from this ever-changing morning commitment. If you have 10-minutes of time to invest, use it in a meaningful way. If you get to invest an hour, make that hour have purpose. Dedicating a set allotment of morning time to “spend” is a rich way to begin every 24-hour window permitting you to lead and empower the personal and professional things that are most compelling. Alas…sweet success on your own terms!
