7 Ways To CLOSE Sales With Social Selling
The Daily Sales
Entertaining, Motivating, Educating and Inspiring Salespeople all over the world!
This year I have closed A LOT of sales with LinkedIn strategies that I know will help you get some deals over the line today.
I'm going to make these as easy and actionable as possible so you can take them and use them straight away.
Let's not waste any time here it's the last day of the month! (number 3 is my personal favourite)...
1) Follow up on outstanding opportunities with an AUDIO or VIDEO LinkedIn message
If you've got prospects or opportunities that you're struggling to get hold of via phone or email, it's worth sending an audio voice note on LinkedIn or video message. The reason for this is twofold, firstly it stands out. Most months 100% of the messages I receive on LinkedIn are written messages, so when an audio or video one comes through it instantly STANDS OUT!
Secondly it's about added layers of communication. In a written email or LinkedIn message they are only reading your words. In an audio message or even phone call they can hear your tone but with a video message they can see your eye contact, body language etc.
It's easy to do on the LinkedIn mobile app, when you go to write a message you'll see a microphone on the right hand side to record an audio voice note or if you click the paperclip it opens an option list which includes taking a video or picking one from your camera roll.
Here are a script suggestion:
"Hi Sam it's Dan from The Daily Sales here, I just wanted to check that you got the proposal through ok, I know sometimes it can end up in junk. We mentioned getting started in October and I'd love to get everything ready to kick off tomorrow. I've got a few ideas on how we can get things moving, just let me know if you have any questions."
2) ENGAGE on your prospects (or companies) content on LinkedIn
This one can have so much impact. Now obviously this is only applicable if your prospect is sharing content, I'll give you a tip on what to do if they aren't in a minute. Now firstly, and I can't believe I have to say this but better to be safe than sorry, DO NOT comment chasing your proposal!!
I am not suggesting anything like this:
"Hey Jay, I sent you the proposal, did you get it"
"Hey Jay, I tried phoning 20 times, can you call me"
I have actually seen this a few times and it might be the worst thing you can do on LinkedIn!
What I am suggesting is something more like this:
The comment should just be a simple contributive comment to the post, nothing complicated and nothing to do with "work".
The goal of this is simply to jump back onto their radar and remind them that you're there.
You would be surprised how many then get back to you as they remembered the work you had outstanding.
3) Share a RESULTS ROI post on LinkedIn
Possibly one of the most effective strategies in this article, sharing a post on LinkedIn that creatively highlights a specific ROI you've generated for a customer (or several) is an incredibly effective way to give your prospects a motivational nudge to sign on the dotted line.
You've gone through all of the process and you're waiting to close it, so sharing an example of a strong ROI you've generated for a customer is a great way to create FOMO.
This could be a screenshot of a testimonial or recommendation, it could be a video testimonial or even a story style post sharing an example of what you achieved for a customer and how you achieved it.
4) Share a COMMUNICATION preference poll on LinkedIn
A simple but powerful one, here is how this works:
Step 1 - Share a 1-day LinkedIn poll with the following:
Question: How do you prefer to be contacted?
Option 1: Phone
Option 2: Email
Option 3: LinkedIn message
Option 4: LinkedIn video/voice message
Step 2: Check to see who is voting on the various options. As the creator of the poll you, and only you, can see everyone who votes.
Step 3: Communicate with prospects via their chosen method.
For example:
"Hi Sarah, thank you for voting on my poll! You put that you preferred a LinkedIn video/audio message so I thought I'd send you a quick one. I'm excited to get started on our project together, let me know if you need anything from me to help get going"
5) Look for when your prospects are ONLINE
LinkedIn shows you when people are online on the platform which gives you a few unique insights. Now just because someone is showing as online on LinkedIn doesn't mean they are intently looking at LinkedIn, it may be on in the background. But it does show they are in some way active.
You could:
6) Use Sales Navigator to find a REFERRAL option
If you've got opportunities outstanding that you're struggling to close, finding a new or different bridge into that opportunity can help drive it across the line.
With Sales Navigator you can filter by "Connections of" and typing in anyone you could get a referral or nudge from. You can also filter by "TeamLink connections of" and look for internal people who may know a prospect you're working on.
For example if you searched for prospects that are connected to your CEO, you might be able to get them to message/call and see if they can help nudge the deal over the line for you.
7) Find an influencer they follow and ENGAGE on their content
A recently added feature on LinkedIn is the ability to filter by creators they follow. If you're searching for prospects you can filter by "Followers of" (select 1st degree to only see people in your network).
Let's say you want to see people who follow Daniel Murray from The Marketing Millennials, you add him as the creator. When you then engage on their content, there is a chance that your prospects or target decision makers might see it.
The goal of this is again visibility and subtle nudges and reminders to make them think of you.
Them scrolling on LinkedIn, seeing a creator they follow, seeing you comment on it, can be the nudge to make them think "oh right I need to get the paperwork back to Sarah".
These were just some strategies that have worked for me and the thousands of salespeople I work with all over the world.
Give them a try and hopefully you'll be able to get some more deals closed!
