#7: The Wait / Google Ads vs SEO / Feels / Google SGE's New Feature

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend and all those New Year resolutions remain intact! ?? We’re somehow halfway through January already, so let’s get on…

Here we are with edition #7 your Weekly Dose of: Ai / Brand / Content / Web / SEO / ??

Last week was a busy one, some highlights:

Amongst the usual ongoing SEO/PPC projects we had - 2 new Website projects kicked off, in the last stretch of finalising Branding/Web work for a College. I visited new client Llewie at Crystal Woods to see his workshop and gorgeous wood creations, throw in my first Kombucha brewing and a trip to Go Ape and all in all a pretty good week.

FILM:

The Wait

Over the weekend I couldn’t stop thinking about how affecting this short film is. Called “The Wait” it’s directed by Jason McColgan and stars Poppy Roe and Mike Burnside. I found it to be an absolutely heartbreaking, compelling and powerful piece of film and in only 4 minutes, it communicates so much....

Google Ads vs SEO: A Digital Marketing Showdown!

Are you ready to step into the digital marketing ring and get your business noticed online?

It's time to consider the heavyweights:

Google Ads vs SEO ??

These two contenders bring different strengths to the match, each vying to boost your website's traffic.

In the left corner, we have SEO, the organic champion.

Like a seasoned boxer working the ropes, SEO employs tactics such as keyword targeting, crafting quality content, and building a network of backlinks.

It's not a quick jab; SEO requires dedication and strategy, but it delivers a powerful punch in long-term results, ensuring your site stands strong in the search engine arena.

In the right corner, meet Google Ads, the pay-per-click powerhouse. This contender steps into the ring with a strategy to place your website directly in the spotlight, above or beside organic search results.

Every click is like a swift uppercut, driving immediate traffic to your site. Google Ads offers the flexibility to manage your daily spend, making it perfect for short-term campaigns or promotion bursts.

The bell has rung, and the match is on.

Which fighter should you back?

The answer depends on your marketing goals, time frame, and budget. Many businesses find that a tag team approach brings home the championship belt – using SEO's endurance for sustaining rankings and Google Ads' agility for quick visibility gains.

Ready to throw your hat into the ring and boost your visibility?

I'm in your corner, drop me a email to discuss how we can make these contenders work for your business.

Let's get ready to rumble! ??

OpenAi launches it’s GPT Store

OpenAI launched the new GPT Store last week. This is a place where people can publicly share chatbots they have custom-created using OpenAI's technology.

Over 3 million unique chatbots (called GPTs) have already been made by users in OpenAI's special builder program since November. You can find and use our here: https://chat.openai.com/g/g-0fCEIeC7W-icp-ideal-customer-profile-generator

It helps businesses to define their 'ICP' - 'Ideal Customer Profile'…

The GPT Store lets their developers share any of these user-created chatbots for anyone to try out. This expands the possibilities beyond what OpenAI itself provides with ChatGPT. New AI uses might emerge based on what creative bots users come up with, too.

The store was originally supposed to launch in November or December 2022 but was delayed until now. Currently, only paying subscribers of OpenAI can build and access these GPT chatbots.

There are also plans to let chatbot creators earn money. In the first 3 months of 2023, OpenAI will launch a revenue-sharing program. This means creators will get paid based on usage and engagement with their GPT chatbots in the store.

In simpler terms - this new store is a place for the public to share and benefit from all the unique chatbots people are building with OpenAI's technology. Both creators and users stand to gain from this new platform.

BRAND

The way you make me feel.

I spotted this great insight from @chasedimond and thought I’d expand on it as Chase suggests - when you look at successful brands and companies, many don't just sell products; they sell feelings.

Gucci sells the feeling of glamour and exclusivity, not just clothing. Even though their clothes cover your body like any other clothes, people pay for the luxury experience, the feeling it gives them.

Mercedes sells the feeling of status and prestige through their cars. It's not just about transportation from A to B; it's about projecting an image of wealth and accomplishment.

Apple sells the feeling of being creative, unique and empowered by “thinking different”. While their technology itself is excellent, people also pay for what owning it says about them to other people.

The key lesson is to realise that to many - emotions and identity matter more than functional performance at the higher end of the market.

The brands that successfully attach the right feelings to their products are the ones that command the most loyalty and the highest profit margins.

That emotional connection is what separates the most successful brands from the rest.

The best brands don't just identify basic needs; they pinpoint people's deepest aspirations and values.

If you can sell those feelings effectively, you have a very valuable brand!

Google SGE's New 'Products to Consider' Feature

Google SGE's New 'Products to Consider' Feature hits the US...

Google SGE (Search Generative Experience) has reportedly launched a new search carousel feature called "Here are some products to consider."

No doubt it's soon to be in the UK search, too.

This feature showcases products from various vendors that users can engage with through the Google Shopping graph.

Spotted by @KhushalBherwanii this feature brings up an "AI snapshot" when users search for products.

The carousel format is interactive and user-friendly, providing an engaging shopping experience right from the search results page.

This innovation is yet another example of how technology is transforming online shopping, making it more dynamic, interactive, and user-centric.

It's a reminder for all online retailers to keep pace with technological advancements in providing a seamless shopping experience for their customers.

What's your take?

How do you think this will influence the future of eCommerce?

How long till Google starts to do an Amazon and sell the products themselves?
