Every organization needs a spokesperson – someone who is willing to stand up and enunciate your messages while amping up the energy within your community.
Do you have something or someone like that in your group?
Generally, this individual is the CEO, Chairman, or a senior manager. However, it’s not uncommon to simply select the best person in your organization who can take on the role and sounds good doing it.
So, let’s just assume you’re the spokesperson. Your role is to get through to your people and to be the ‘face’ of your organization. It’s imperative to your brand’s success to have you as the designated spokesperson to lead your group and to embody the predetermined values of your community.
It’s possible, some may not fully grasp the value you bring to the table. Remind them you’re here, among other reasons, because:
- You keep the brand in the public's eye with engaging publicity
- You ensure your company gets positive media exposure
- You promote group events, activities or a wide variety of community needs
- You provide a safe space for your community's opinions to be heard
- You provide people with a trusted point-of-contact
- You increase the visibility of your brand and enhance the desired perception of your community
- You effectively communicate the right message
All of these activities are learned skills you can be trained on with just a little practice and confidence.
What is it about being a spokesperson that makes you most excited or nervous?
