7 Useful Ways That I am Using ChatGPT to My Advantage

At first, I was not a fan of AI. I had all the pessimistic reasons why it was going to be bad for society. Until one day, I realized that it had so many benefits I hadn’t considered prior.

It’s going to be such an invasion of privacy came to mind. The fact that I would talk to an AI seemed a little unreliable, yet I gave it a try.

As an overthinker, ChatGPT helped me break down everything into an organized list of ideas that helped me take some sort of action.

1. Regaining Focus.

For quite some time, I had a hard time focusing on my goals that I flat out told ChatGPT, “I can’t focus” and it compiled a useful list of things I could try.

After getting about eleven actionable pieces of advice I retook control of my focus. I took action. I didn’t waste time.

If you’re someone who has simple questions about how to improve a particular area of life, you can ask away, and get it within five seconds. Sure, there’s Google, but when communicating with AI, it’s instant and ad-free.

2. It can help you approach odd situations rationally.

My girlfriend and I went to Chicago and she lost her wallet. There was over $300 in it, personal cards, and other sensitive information. With a vacation coming up, it was going to be a major setback.

I was angry at the situation and just kept searching everywhere aimlessly. But when I vented to ChatGPT, I approached the situation rationally and became the supportive boyfriend she needed instead of a negative Nancy (sorry if your name is Nancy).

On the bright side, someone from Chicago messaged her on Facebook and turned it into a police station with everything inside. Instead of blowing up and panicking, we were blessed and it all worked out.

3. Random curiosity.

I woke up a few hours before my alarm went off one morning and I was restless. It was hard to go back to sleep so I tried to figure out how not to waste time.

After useful information was dispersed to me, I decided to hit the gym, watch some self-improvement videos, and start my day. It was a minor concern for me, but it shaped up to be a very productive morning and day.

No matter how dumb you think your question might be, ask it. You will get decent suggestions, and at least be able to devise some type of approach to the situation.

4. Community engagement.

As a social media manager and the owner of a “content creators” Facebook group, it can be hard to come up with ways to spark engagement. By addressing my concern to the chatbot, I was able to implement some strategies.

One thing I advise is not to listen to ChatGPT blindly. You have to pick and choose the feedback you think will be most impactful.

If you’re someone who wants to grow your accounts, spark a following, or make your audience happy, it can be a very resourceful tool.

5. It can help you regain confidence.

One of the skills I used to thrive on and constantly refine is video content creation. Perhaps I was more fearless when I was younger because I had nothing to lose. I still don’t have anything to lose, but my focus and confidence have shifted some.

When asking the AI about my wants and my setbacks, I received some useful feedback that inspired me to be a student again, work on my craft, and give it a go again.

There’s nothing wrong with being vulnerable and seeking a little boost to get you going.

6. Quitting bad habits.

Although I love using social media, at times, it can be a little toxic for my mental health. Common comparisons between myself and others are a downside. Although I knew I wouldn’t shut down my accounts, I knew I needed to make a small change.

Through the feedback I received, I decided to replace my social media consumption with content creation. Although I was making more contributions online, I didn’t compare myself as much. Instead, I focused on my output rather than input, and a big problem was resolved with a minor solution.

If you have a bad habit or issue you want to resolve, don’t hesitate to address it.

7. To just get going.

It’s very common for us to cripple ourselves due to a hesitant mindset. Instead of rolling over in bed and defaulting into the same lazy routine, I was offered useful advice to go for even a quick 15–20 minute jog just to get the ball rolling.

Most of the time, in any journey, it’s a marathon rather than a sprint, and by setting high expectations for yourself, you are more likely to fail than succeed.

Ever since this quick interaction, I was able to improve from a half mile up to seven miles. Your life won’t change if you don’t take the corrective actions necessary.

AI isn’t all that bad.

Depending on how you use AI such as ChatGPT, you can get a lot out of it like I am. I’m not letting it decide my every move like Bandersnatch, but I am keeping an open mind when getting my feedback.

It has improved my mindset, my lifestyle, my priorities, and my well-being. By no means do I use it on a daily basis, but when I notice myself overthinking and feeling stuck, I put in my two cents.

More often than not, technology is there to assist us. If used appropriately, we can all benefit from AI instead of running far from it.
