Goodbye 9-to-5, hello 7-to-7
Hybrid work means fewer — but longer — days in the office than ever before. More employees are clocking in before 7 a.m. and leaving after 7 p.m. now than in 2019, Fortune reports , though they’re only in the office a few days per week. This week's topic: Retirement shift?
Despite improvements in health and life expectancy, less than half of Americans plan to work full-time past age 62, according to new research from the Center for Microeconomic Data. The 9.5% decrease since the pandemic is observed across various demographic groups, with women experiencing a more pronounced drop off than men. The drivers for this post-pandemic shift in retirement expectations span from a preference for part-time jobs to rethinking the value of work to the “Financial Independence Retire Early ” (FIRE) movement.
Comment below: What long-term effects could this shift in retirement patterns have on the economy?

6 个月Great points! I agree that this shift in retirement patterns could significantly impact the labor market. It will be interesting to see how businesses adapt to an older workforce with different work preferences. Additionally, there could be economic implications for social security and healthcare systems as more people retire earlier than previously expected. Looking forward to more insightful discussions on this topic!
