Last week I spoke at Hubspot's INBOUND15 on how data has improved PR measurement and our ability to analyze patterns of success. I was pleasantly surprised not only that the room was packed - people unfortunately were turned away - but that so many PR professionals connected with me afterwards to continue the discussion.
PR measurement is not new - we've been struggling to prove our value since the 40s and 50s, when academicians carried out numerous studies and prepared scholarly papers on measuring communications effectiveness, according to Dr. Walter K. Lindenmann, Ph.D. What is new are the tools that help us to capture data and analyze it, so we can conduct valuable analysis but still have time to execute effective campaigns. The industry has a renewed curiosity about measurement - the recently updated Barcelona Principles are a sign of this - but continues to struggle to incorporate it as a standard in every PR campaign. There's no excuse for that anymore - measurement is an absolute must in today's data-driven world. Lucky for you, Prezly just compiled an awesome list of tools - 140 of them - to help you, here.
The SeeDepth team also captured several of the tips from my presentation, here. They can help you get started, or improve upon what you're already doing. If I can help, please reach out!
