7 Things You Didn’t Know About Me January Edition
Once a month, I thought it would be fun to share 7 things you didn’t know about me. If you have any questions, by all means, let me know and I might add the answer to the next edition.
(Add your things in the comments so that I can get to know you a little better, too!)
Here’s the first installment:
1. My philosophy with public speaking is: “If I can get you to laugh, I can get to you to listen and if I can get you to listen, I can get you to learn.”
2. I graduated from college in 1998 and have been a professional writer for 22 years. There are days when that feels like a long time ago and others where it feels like yesterday.
3. I like doing LEGO sets because so much of my life doesn’t have instructions. What are the clear steps for, “Be a fulltime writer and public speaker?” I find building a massive LEGO Porsche with step-by-step instructions peaceful.
4. My favorite TV show of all time is “Seinfeld” and the best episode is clearly, “The Hamptons.”
5. I married a renaissance woman. Jenny has her undergrad in photojournalism from Samford University and her masters in construction management from Georgia Tech. She can do anything.
6. When people ask me, “Are you a writer or a speaker?” my answer is always, “Yes.”
7. I’ve given Steven Pressfield’s “The War of Art” to more people than any other book. What’s your go to book to give to friends?

5 年Georgia Tech is quite the kudos on its own, but the combination is compelling. The fact that you obviously adore her is her greatest accomplishment. I'm speaking today on a truly tedious subject, so number 1 is a great reminder. Where do you put your legos? We're out of room. I have the Lego Christmas village which comes out most years. As for handing out books, my three faves are John Ortberg's The Life you Always Wanted, Brother Laurence's Practicing the Presence of God, and Frank Laubach's journals (a modern version of Brother Laurence, generally available online for free. What was the most transformative book you've ever read?
CONSULTANT
5 年By far, I love your fact?#1? the best,?Jon.? ? You got my attention.? The second best fact nugget is your wife.? Such kind words.
District General Manager at H&R Block
5 年I've gifted several copies of "Finish" by Jon Acuff. You would enjoy it.
