7 Things About Me You Didn't Know...

After writing hundreds of articles and sharing thousands of posts on LinkedIn, I thought for once I'd do something different and give you the chance to get to know me as a person a little better!
So here we go, a few things about me you may not know...
(including the 3 colours my red T-Shirt was originally when I started out)
1) I'm married with 2 wonderful kids
Actually I got married this year (2022) to my now lovely wife Laurie, and we have 2 kids, Lewis and Joshua. We've been together a very long time and I count myself extremely lucky every single day.
I usually take my youngest son to school most days in the week, hired my eldest son for work experience this summer (he actually created some incredible sales memes), and at the weekends we do whatever we can to have fun (bowling, mini golf, board games, walks etc).
2) I'm a very big whiskey fan and have the complete Game of Thrones whiskey collection
My personal favourite whiskey to drink is the Balvenie 14 year (I have the 12, 14 and 16 year), although I love a good old fashioned. In fact me and Tony Morris enjoyed a cracking night in Atlanta with the most amazing smokey old fashioned (recommended by Larry Levine ).
This year I also completed my set of the Game of Thrones limited edition whiskeys, some were quite difficult to find.
3) The red #SOCIALSELLING T-Shirt that I wear actually started out in 3 colours...
Around 5 years ago I ordered 3 t-shirts with #socialselling on them, one in red, one in blue and one in black. I wore all 3 for several months in videos and meetings, but after a while the red just stuck and has now become a huge part of my brand.
In fact the moment I chose one colour and started only wearing the red t-shirt was the moment my personal brand and business levelled up significantly.
4) One of the only ways I truly can switch off is building Lego
I've been building lego sets for years for my 2 sons, but recently I noticed that it's one of very few occasions where I actually 100% switch off from work (which isn't easy when you run your own business). I have a few sets in my home office, The Death Star in the picture, The Daily Bugle set, a haunted house and the awesome house from Home Alone!
5) 5 years ago I quit my well paid corporate job to start my business
On the 1st December 2022 it will have been 5 years since I quit a very well paid corporate job as Head of Sales for a global training company to start my own business. Since then I've grown my business year on year, and this year celebrated my first 6-figure month. I've worked with hundreds of companies, trained and spoken in front of tens of thousands of people and got to travel the world.
I truly love what I do and am grateful every day that I get to do this. I work hard don't get me wrong, 12-16 hours days, but I love it and I plan to continue growing and helping more businesses around the world leverage LinkedIn, Social Selling & Sales Navigator to it's full potential. Next year I also aim to grow The Daily Sales to over 1,000,000 LinkedIn followers and truly the biggest audience of salespeople out there.

6) I met Jimmy Carr once and he made fun of my surname and haircut!
As someone who has personally created over 1,000 sales memes, I love a bit of humour and Jimmy Carr is certainly one of the best. A few years ago I got to present an award an an awards evening that was hosted by Jimmy Carr.
After arriving on stage to present the award he went on to make jokes about my surname and haircut, which I can't deny was fair enough!
7) As well as making memes, I love to doodle as well
You'll find doodles in both of my books and in some of the early content that I used to share on LinkedIn. I've always found it a great way to help share a thought or explain something, I'll even start doodling in some of my keynotes and training sessions!
Now I'm no artist by any stretch of the imagination, I just like to find as many ways as possible to help people understand core messages.
There we go, a slightly different newsletter article than normal, but I hope it helps you get to know me a little better :)
I've been posting daily on LinkedIn now for over 7 years doing my best to help the sales industry and help sales teams get more from social selling. Sometimes you get so wrapped up in trying to help that you forget to let people get to know you as a human being as well.
So I'll put it over to you now...
In the comments let me know something about you that I don't!

2 年I too like whisky but my collection doesn't look that pretty. Be interesting to have a chat over an Old Fashioned with you Daniel Disney probably to talk about our the LEGO Group collections. I definitely need to focus more on tips 1 & 3 and do a little less 2. Maybe I will post a video of myself one day soon too. Little known fact; I have six chickens at home in the garden and can watch them from my home office window.
