7 Techniques for a Positive Mindset

7 Techniques for a Positive Mindset

Every one of us has our own personal computer that is more powerful than anything you can buy off the shelf or online. It’s your brain; it is capable of multiple, complex computations at the same time as managing your thoughts and emotions every day, 24/7 – AI eat your heart out!

Now, we’re going to dispel a myth. Contrary to the popular belief that we use just 10% of our brain, we actually use all of it. That’s not to say you’re using all of your brain all of the time, but you are using parts of your brain at different times of the day. However, we only use a fraction of our brain’s potential.

So, you’ve got all this power in your head with the never-ending potential to unlock doors and bring you a dream job, career success and a lot more. That’s where the whole process starts to falter because many of us don’t understand just what our minds can achieve, or how they can make it work for them.

What is mind power?

Your mind is a powerful tool that helps to mould and shape who we are now, and influences who we will be in the future. It can impact our emotions, our health and wellbeing, our prosperity, our relationships and our future. It is broken down into two parts: the conscious and the subconscious.

But understanding how to use that power to your advantage is another matter entirely. Mind power is the use of a range of techniques designed to help you unlock your subconscious mind to make positive changes in your life, to manifest something you want and to boost your health and wellbeing.

How to unlock the power of your mind

There’s a lot to be said for positive thinking – I bet you can think of at least one person in your work or personal network that is always positive. Maybe that somebody is you? Regardless, using the following tips and techniques are good practice for a better mindset, increased confidence and nailing that job interview.?

1.??Recognise and banish negative thoughts. It’s very easy to allow negative thoughts and self-doubt creep in. The first step in stopping them doing any harm is to recognise those thoughts and turn them into positive affirmations, i.e. ‘I am good enough to do the job’, ‘I have the right skillset’ and ‘I would be an excellent asset for the company’.

2.??Be in the now. We all have goals and that’s good because they focus on growth and development. But using words like ‘when’, ‘if’ and ‘in the future’ is just putting off what you could have now. So, feed your mind with positive energy now by allowing yourself to believe that your life is good now, then watch that positive energy turn into better things in the future.

3.??Talk in the present. Similar to the above point, as well as talking of future growth, talk in the present, too. So, instead of saying ‘I’ll be happy when I’ve got the job’, turn it around by saying ‘I’m happy now in my current job and a new job will enhance this’.?By pushing happiness, success and growth into the future, you are stopping yourself enjoying it now.

4.??Resist the influence of others. A sad fact of life is that sometimes, the happier you are or the more success you have, people will respond to you differently; sometimes negatively. They may pass their doubts, their regrets or negativity on to you. Resist! What they feel and their opinions are not yours now, nor do they have an impact on what you can achieve.

5.??Surround yourself with positive things, and people. The more positivity you have around you, the easier it is to maintain your positive outlook. That doesn’t mean being around people that always agree with you; it’s not healthy. It’s good to be challenged at times and helps to develop you as a person. But surrounding yourself with positive energy from other things and people reinforces your happiness and success.

6.??Embrace change. Without change, the world doesn’t grow. The same applies to you. Fear, doubt, uncertainty and negativity are all the result of not being open to, and embracing, change. That’s not to say you have to make changes in your life to become a positive person, you don’t. It’s unlocking your mind to the opportunity of change. So, if you see a job that you know you could do easily – you have the right skill set, experience and knowledge – don’t let the fear of change stop you from applying for it. Change is but small steps to success.

7.??Establish goals to drive desire. Positivity is fueled by a desire – a passion – to learn, grow and achieve success, be it in your personal or professional life. Your goals will push your mind to explore new opportunities, expand your skill set and knowledge, to reach and even exceed your goals.

With just a few simple, but hard to master, techniques you really can make changes and achieve success. Creating a positive mindset has many benefits, including boosting your confidence to go for those opportunities and giving you the belief that you can achieve anything you set your mind to do.
