7 Steps to Live in the Present

7 Steps to Live in the Present

Life does not need to be hard.

It just doesn't.

We have this idea that we must toil, strain, and sweat to get what we want.

If we want to make another $10,000, we need to put in $10,000 worth (or more) of late nights, stress, anxiety, and wrinkles.

We're told:

"Hard work never killed anybody"

It's true, hard work is really important, especially for people who are still learning how to work hard. But it's not vital for growth or success.

It's good to feel in your bones what it's like to give something everything you have. But it doesn't have to be your way of life.

I operated this way for 10 years, got myself sick, stressed, overwhelmed, burnt out, and aged faster. Trust me, it's not worth it once you realize you don't have to go about life in this way.

In fact, I don't think we ever were supposed to go through life with strife and resistance. The seasons don't strain to change. Leaves effortlessly fall. Clouds move in the sky without tension.

We can do the same in our lives.

While it's taken me a while to really understand this, after years of hardly eating, little sleep, and being in school while working multiple jobs, all trying to prove I was good enough and valuable, I can tell you, YOU DON'T NEED TO STRAIN TO GAIN.

The most beautiful growth can come from being peaceful and present in your life.

Success isn't always about greatness. It's about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come.

How to Live Life Presently In 7 Steps:

  1. Focus on what's right in front of you. (No one has ever solved future problems by problem solving them in the present. Solve only the problems before you.)
  2. Let go of the uncontrollable.
  3. Stop the striving that's fueled by comparison or emptiness.
  4. Take more breaks and breathe.
  5. Do one thing until it's completed.
  6. Pick a simple habit to do daily.
  7. Look at how okay your life is and be grateful for all that is well. (Realize the tiger you're running from is not actually chasing you.)
