7 Steps to Creating Your 2023 Personal Branding Strategy

Developing a Brand Strategy

Building a #personalbrand in 2023 will require you to have a #brandingstrategy that will help you yourself apart as an expert in your industry. The more you can go into the new year and beyond with a plan to brand yourself well, the more you will grow your business and achieve success.

While creating a strong personal brand will not happen overnight, it will happen if you stay focused on your goals. Building your brand will require you to know and be confident in your personal value, as well as to convey your value to those whom you want to reach.

Growing your brand will require you to know:

  • Who you want to reach
  • How you plan to reach them
  • Why you want to reach them
  • Your branding message

As you build your personal brand, if you continue to use the answers to these as a litmus test, you will notice your brand growing. You will begin to attract the right type of people, and those people will attract more of the right type of people.

The more your brand begins to align itself, the more you will be able to focus on positioning yourself as an expert. It is important that you not take shortcuts and that you be consistent in developing your online presence.

Below are 7 steps you can take to brand yourself well by delivering consistent value to your online audience. Not everyone will resonate with your brand message, but your goal should be to build a brand that resonates with those whom you most want to serve.

Branding Strategy Step 1: Brand Your Passion

Knowing the ‘why’ behind your ‘what,’ or knowing why you do what you do, will help you to focus on branding your passion. The clearer you become on that one thing that you are passionate about the easier it will be for you to create a build a brand that will attract the type of buyer you want to attract.

To understand what you are passionate about, think about the humanitarian crisis, persons, or person in your life you most want to help. The more you build your brand out of a passion to serve, the more branding yourself will become an act of love.

Branding Strategy Step 2: Establish Your Core Values

About five years ago, I went through a coaching program in which numerous people listened to a teaching by one of two business coaches. On a particular call, one of the coaches encouraged everyone to come up with a set of core values that would be the guiding principles in all of our decision making.

Though the exercise was to come up with a list of core principles by which one would live their personal lives, it is a good idea to do the same for your #business. Branding your business according to core values will help you create a brand alignment, which will make your brand more recognizable to your audience.

When thinking about you business core values, think about how each one aligns with the problem you want to solve. Your core values should move you toward your goal of building a brand around the humanitarian crisis, people, or person you want to help.

Branding Strategy Step 3: Clarify Your Value Proposition

Your value proposition is what you offer to your online audience that is of greater value?to them than what your competition offers. This is a good opportunity to find people and businesses that offer similar products or services to you and then ask yourself how you can offer better products or services than them.

Knowing your value proposition will help you to identify whom you will best serve, and knowing that will help you to build a strong brand. It will help you to create content that will resonate with your online audience.

Branding Strategy Step 4: Identify Your Ideal Client

After you determine what your value proposition is, you will want to identify who your ideal client is. Those are the people within your target audience who will not only benefit the most from your value proposition but is also most likely to buy from you or do business with you.

To find your ideal client, ask your target audience these 3 core branding questions:

  1. What problems do you most want to solve?
  2. How can I help you solve your problems?
  3. What is the value of that solution to you?

To do this, you can ask them via posts or tweets on social media, set up a poll, or even send them surveys. I like to send surveys as it creates an opportunity for me to not only find my ideal client but to get into a conversation and build a relationship with them.

Branding Strategy Step 5: Offer Relevant Solutions

Whether you ask your ideal client, create polls, or send them surveys, your goal should be to find out what services or products will be of value to them. The more valuable your ideal client considers your product or service, the more relevant your solution will become to them and the easier you will find building a sustainable brand.

To create a powerful brand, you will want to offer no more than three main products or services. You can offer variations of those products or services, such as Nike has branded itself around Nike Air, but offering more than three core products or services will create a brand dissonance that will confuse your ideal client.

Branding Strategy Step 6: Create Value Driven Content

Another benefit of asking your audience what problem(s) you can help them solve is it will give you #contentcreation ideas. You want to #createcontent your online audience considers consumable and shareable, which means all of your content should offer a relevant solution to your ideal client's pain points.

By providing your online audience with value driven content that offers relevant solutions to their pain points, you will plant seeds making it easier for them to buy from you. The trick to building a brand is to create content that provides more value to your audience than you ask from them.

Branding Strategy Step 7: Position Yourself as an Online Authority

Through all of your online branding, your goal should be to position yourself as an online authority. The more your content creation focuses on your expertise the more your ideal client will resonate with your personal brand, and the more they will want to buy from you or do business with you.

Becoming the go-to expert will not only help you to grow your brand, it will also lead to more #sales that will help you to grow your business. And the more sales, as well as more business growth, you have the more you will be able to serve more people and make a bigger impact on people’s lives.

The Beginning of Your Branding Journey

Though there is much to building a brand with which your ideal client will resonate, a strong brand strategy will make the #branding process easier. You will want to be consistent in creating content and engaging with your online audience, but your consistency will help you build a brand that will lead to more sales.?
