Talk time! Create a terrific LinkedIn profile

Today was an amazing day - I went to Bridge Business College in Sydney CBD to speak about how to create a terrific LinkedIn profile and help students to build an attractive profile. 

It was really interesting to see how students have different perceptions and how they feel ready or not to get into the online world. I had a student telling me that he wants to wait and get a LinkedIn profile later on to look for a job later on as he's now focused on studying - but isn't it an amazing opportunity to get your profile done today and update it steps by steps so that you could be recruited in 2 years time? 

Today, I taught these students of to create a powerful LinkedIn profile in 7 steps and found it useful to share it with everyone. Here are the 7 steps we went through:

1/ If you don't have one, create your (free) LinkedIn account now
2/ Determine your goals - why do you want to be on LinkedIn?
3/ Upload an awesome picture - and not a boring one
4/ Create a catchy headline - and not just your position in your company
5/ Select your top 5 skills - what are you the best at?
6/ Tell people about your experience - show your achievements!
7/ Get recommendations from your contacts - Be referred & referred!
