Obtain your safety certification by following these seven steps, showcasing your expertise through the application, examination, accomplishment, and recertification process.
1. Select the Right Certification for YOU
Whether you work in construction or industrial hygiene, you can validate your safety knowledge with a BCSP certification. Choose a certification that aligns with your skills, job responsibilities, education, and professional background to boost your career.
2. Fulfill the Education Requirement
Each certification has its own education criteria. Certifications mandating a college degree require accreditation from a CHEA-recognized university. The CSP? also necessitates a BCSP-qualified credential in addition to meeting the educational standard.
*Degrees earned internationally will be assessed for equivalence. Details on necessary documentation can be found online during the application process.
ESC’s IDHSE or Qualifi Level 7 International Diploma in OHSM has TSP status from BCSP, allowing candidates to bypass ASP and be directly eligible to write CSP.

3. Meet the Work Experience Requirement
Similar to the education prerequisite, the work experience needed varies for each certification. For example, the CSP? necessitates 4 years of experience
4. Submit Your Application Online
Create an account on My Profile to initiate the application procedure. Upon completion, the BCSP’s Certification Services Department will review your application and inform you of its approval.
5. Purchase Your Examination
Access your My Profile account and choose "Purchase Exam" from the menu. Once your application is approved, you have one year to purchase, schedule, and take the exam. You can buy an exam or an exam bundle at any point during your one-year eligibility.
6. Take Your Exam
Upon purchasing the exam, you will receive an examination authorization notice to schedule the exam at Pearson VUE testing centers. Exams are computer-based, and results are available immediately after submission.
7. Fulfill Recertification Requirements
Upon passing the exam, BCSP will grant you the certification earned. Continuing your certification necessitates an annual fee and staying current with professional practices by accumulating recertification points every five years. Refer to the recertification page for further details.
