Gone of the days where you could just wing it on social. We are in a time where there is so much attention on social media, which means opportunity for you.
So let’s get a simple social media strategy started for YOU!
1. Clearly define your Social Media goals
To create an effective strategy you must marry the overall business goals and objectives with the goals an objectives of the strategy. (88% of marketers who set goal actually achieve them.) Make sure that the goals are attainable as you are much more likely to stick to the plan.
2. Know thy customers
Who are your ideal customers, how to they walk, talk, eat, sleep…. And most of all where do they consumer their content? Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin? and how do they like to consume it video, photo, long form text? Get a good gasp of who your ideal customers are and how they like to engage with your particular niche.
3. Establish your tracking metrics
What is important for your overall marketing campaign, is it post reach, engagement, views, clicks or conversions? Clearly establish what metrics will be measured to ensure you are on track. Once you have these metrics established it is much easier to know whether you are on or off track to reach your social media #goals.
4. Research your Social Competitors
Have a look at your competitors and see what they are doing, take note of what’s not working, what’s getting negative engagement and what’s working really well. Utilise the effective posts and adapt this into your strategy. You can even see what Facebook ads they are currently running by simply heading to their Facebook page and clicking on the 'Info and Ads' tab (left hand side).
5. Curate Engaging Content
The content you produce is EXTREMELY important as you must ensure it fits your target demographic. I highly recommend using video as 90% of online shoppers believe product videos help them make a purchasing decision.
6. Engage with your Audience
Social media “networks” are created to engage, network, discuss and share with your fans and followers. Make sure you are asking questions, creating poll's, asking for feedback, interacting in the comments and replying to direct messages.
7. Evaluate, Test and Adjust.
Your social media strategy is crucial to your business, and you can’t assume that you will nail it the first time. As start implementing the plan and track the results and feedback you receive, you may find some of the strategies did not work for you and others worked better than expected. Simply adjust your plan and re implement. At the end of the day social media platforms are always evolving and this is why your social media strategy should be a living document that gets looked at, reviewed and adjusted regularly. Thus ensuring you are on the right path for social media and business success.
