7 reasons why it might just be worth supporting Trades Awards 2021

The search for this year’s construction heroes is now well underway, and like last year, it feels like it has never been more important to celebrate good people.

Trades Awards 2021 is taking place digitally again, and I think we proved last year that digital does not mean dull! Thanks to our incredible hosts, finalists, sponsors, and attendees, over 400 of us celebrated in style. This was despite government restrictions being tightened just before the ceremony meaning we all had to stay at home, with any small gatherings cancelled. Instead, we virtually dropped in past living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms, and met the parents, children, Grannies, and pets of last year’s finalists. Pauline Fraser and Chris Harvey from STV hosted amazingly, keeping the whole night running smoothly from their different locations, and ensuring that our finalists and winners got the recognition they deserved.

And so, we plan to do it all again this year on Friday 1st October…

Regardless of whether an event is real life or digital, the success is based entirely on sponsorship. Quite simply, much as I love the Trades Awards with all of my heart (I’m lucky enough to have to worked on it since it was launched in 2012), we cannot run it without the support of the industry. For that reason, we are over the moon to welcome support from Stewart Milne Group and W M Donald this year, along with CALA Homes, Flexistore, Glulam Solutions, James Gibb, PMC Property, and Safety Scotland.

However, there are still several sponsorship opportunities available, so I have pulled together what I think are the genuine benefits of supporting the Trades Awards, just in case you’re considering it.

1)     Across the past 9 years, we have collectively created a construction community. The North East construction industry has fully embraced the Trades Awards, and over 400 professionals now use the ceremony as a way of catching up with colleagues and peers, networking with potential clients, and having a really good time, as well as celebrating success. Your sponsorship helps to ensure we can bring people together each year.

2)     The real stars of the Trades Awards are the people, and for some reason this was clearer than ever when we ran the event digitally. Being able to talk to finalists, ‘relaxed’ in their own home, surrounded by their family or friends, was the perfect way to find out who they really were. Your sponsorship will allow us to use the same technology to do it all again for this year’s construction heroes.

3)     With most of us spending A LOT of our time staring at our phones (I was 6+ hours a day most of last year – 6 + HOURS!?), digital promotion is more important then ever. We will regularly share details of your support with over 4,500 construction contacts, across all the Trades Awards socials, and through our email updates. That is quite a lot of eyeballs.

4)     We are so grateful to have had incredible support from local and national media, including STV, Evening Express, Press & Journal, Scottish Construction Now, and Aberdeen Business News. While nothing is ever guaranteed, we have been lucky enough to have their support already this year, so fingers crossed that continues!

5)     The Trades Awards offer a unique opportunity to show your support for the construction industry. The people are what make the event, and we have always worked hard to make sure that finalists and winners receive the respect and recognition they deserve. Your sponsorship allows us to ensure the event is #notyouraverageawardsceremony for our #constructionheroes

6)     You can choose an award or package that reflects your own core values. With categories that focus on sustainability, people development, customer service, health and safety, innovation, and incredible individuals at all stages of their career, the chances are we have an award that reflects what is important to you and your business.

7)     You get the chance to join the Trades Awards judging panel. Organising the judging process is one of the most inspiring, humbling parts of my job. Whilst I do not get involved in any way, I help to set up the finalist interviews, so I get to meet them all, and I love it. If you ever wonder what the future of the construction industry looks like, come and join our panel, and you’ll see its in very safe hands.

I hope this helps give you an idea of why becoming a sponsor of the Trades Awards could be good for you, your business, the Trades Awards, and the wider construction industry. If you would like to know more about our plans for this year, and how we could work together, give me a shout anytime on [email protected] because I would like the chance to chat.

Take care :)
